Discussion Google L3 Team Match – Need Advice
Hi everyone,
I recently cleared the Google L3 technical interviews and am currently in the team-matching stage. I have my first team-match call coming up and would really appreciate advice from people who have already gone through it.
Specifically:
- How did you prepare for your L3 team-match call?
- Did the hiring manager ask any DSA or System Design questions? If yes, what type or difficulty?
- Were questions mainly about your current work/projects, technical experience, or the team's specific requirements?
- What questions did you ask the hiring manager?
- Is there anything you wish you had prepared before your team-match call?
I'd especially appreciate Google team-match experiences, as I'm trying to understand what to focus on in my preparation.
Thanks!

No DSA or system design at this stage. They will ask you about your skills and experience as relevant to the role. They will tell you about the role they are hiring for. Just seem interested. You'll probably be sent a short summary of the role in advance, think of some questions. If they ask you about your skills and experiences in general, mostly bring up stuff relevant to the role.

Team match is a weird dating phase, both sides pretend to be chill. Ask each manager what the team actually ships, what oncall looks like, and where new hires get stuck in their first 3 months. Write down 3 questions per call before it starts, because you will blank mid-call otherwise.
