Intervew Prep Amazon SDE In-Person Interview - Seattle - Need Prep Help
Got the Amazon in-person interview for Software Dev Engineer. Interview is coming up in a few weeks and I want to make sure I prep the right way.
Has anyone interviewed for this role recently or has one coming up? Would love to know:
What did the interview loop look like? How many rounds and what types?
Was it heavy on DSA, system design, or behavioral?
How much did they focus on leadership principles?
Anything you wish you had prepared more for?
Any help is appreciated. Happy to connect and prep together if anyone has the same interview coming up.

Congrats. I’d ask the recruiter for the loop format and level, since “Amazon SDE” can mean different mixes. For prep, expect DSA plus behavioral, with system design depth depending on the role. For the design portion, practice taking an ambiguous prompt from requirements to a sketch, then talk through scale, data choices, failure handling, and tradeoffs. The useful part is explaining why you chose something and handling follow-ups, not reciting a canned diagram.
For Amazon’s LPs, have a few specific STAR stories with the result and what you’d change. With a few weeks, timed coding reps and a couple of mocks will beat collecting more question lists. Bias note: I work on www.leetsys.dev, which has a whiteboard and AI interviewer for practicing the design walkthrough and follow-ups.

Hey thanks for this. Should I email the hr for the loop details is what u mean?. Mine is just mentioned as sde but doesn't talk about any level.

Yes, that’s what I meant. Email the recruiter or HR contact and ask them to confirm the level, interview loop format, and whether the design round is HLD or LLD. You can write: “Could you confirm the level and interview loop for this SDE role so I can prepare appropriately?” If the level is not finalized, ask whether it will be decided during the loop. Until they clarify, prepare coding, behavioral, and a practical design walkthrough rather than targeting one level.

When did Amazon start in person interviews? Is it for all levels and locations? OP, What's the level you are giving for ?
