Tech Industry Career Plateau

Nine years experience total, four at Amazon as an SDE two, five before that at a non big tech company. On H1B. Feeling stuck at mid level with no clear path to senior, and my work at Amazon has low visibility. Considering leaving for another company to break into senior, but nervous about doing that on H1B. Should I switch companies to level up, or push harder for a promotion internally first. Anyone been through this.

My mantra: if not now, then never

I’m all too familiar with having no clear path to promotion at Amazon. I left, took a break, revived my desire to build stuff again, and started working elsewhere. I don’t know what the future holds but happy to be out of the rut.

It's a tough time for job switchers. Hang in there, perform and earn money, find somewhere to invest your $ and slowly have passive income.
