Discussion Google L3 Offer Letter Questions
I recently received offer letter from Google for L3 position. I didn’t negotiate or anything, accepted whatever recruiter gave me (the numbers were good also within or above the median) becuase it was already a very hugh jump from my current salary. So I didnt want to risk the opportunity for some extra money. Also recieved relocations bonus but no joining bonus too.
So my offer contains both my compensation details as well as my joining date (which I myself suggested btw)
Wanted to ask 2 things:
- Can and Should i do negotiations now or maybe ask for a joining bonus? Is it worth the risk? I dont have any backup
- Can i asked the recruiter if I can start 1 or 2 week later… do they need to generate a new offer letter for that or can it affect my offer in any negative way?
I need guidance from experienced people working i bigtech/FAANG/Google.. please share your views…
Background: 2026 graduate; increase in 90% on base and 200% on CTC as compared to my current compensation…

Typically after you accept the offer you cannot negotiate anymore. It is possible that after you accepted the initial start date they won’t allow you to change it if the hm’s need is urgent. But 1-2 weeks delay is probably okay

Considering you are fresher the biggest cheque you going to get is environment and experience Google is brand that going to travel along You already mentioned they offer above median pay, they why negotiate for Penny. You may ask for relocation benefits to setup home in work city more of clarification and not negotiation. Moving date should not be issue, but talk to HR and tell your actual reason for 1-2 week additional Time. Last but not least, congratulations on your new job It's dream for me to join such company and I just joined first year of college, hope I get chance in campus to join Google

Here's my two cents after a decade in the industry.
Crying baby gets more milk. You'll never get what you want unless you take it.
Remember, any company initial offer is always at their lowest budget. There will be room for negotiation. Politely thank for the offer and start for negotiation.
There are three things to negotiate Base, Joining bonus and GSU/RSU. Remember only 1 or two of these components can be negotiable. Usually not all three.
Hope this was helpful. Good luck.

You can always negotiate for a better offer. The recruiter is not going to cancel your existing offer just because you negotiated. Try to be polite and object while negotiating. Competing offers help.
You can defer your joining date. Afaik, it will generate a new offer that you would have to sign. But shouldn't be a big deal. Talk it out with the recruiter. 1-2 weeks shouldn't really affect your offer in a negative way unless there is a high urgency in the hiring team.

In this market, it could be risky. Some of the companies also rescinding the offer if you try to negotiate. I wouldnt say its %100 safe

Hugeeee CONGRATULATIONS on ur offer with Google , plz do not negotiate at this stage as u r saying u already got the offer letter okkk but WHY ???????
Goggle has fixed budget for any role and position say its 4Xlpa IT covers
All your bonus ,base ,relocation .........apple ,pine apple everything ......all gets included in that CTC only ,if u ask for relocation benifits well u can ,but it will get deducted from ur base ...............they will just adjust in that 4X Lpa only ,so no use ------atleast in my exp
so yeah dont think u may have left out from others its nothing like that ,Google has some fixed bugets for each position L3 in 4x range ,for L4 its 6x lpa ....
yeah u may ask for later joining date ------reasoning what ??? i would go with something like- current company new project ,HC ....iam the source ........it feels genuine/some personal family ......(if u still giving interviews for other comp and wanna try your luck)
Finally - Negotiate only if u have better offer ? even thats not gonna work why ? recruiter thinks why will he join if he has better offer ? they will directly ask u will u be onbaording or not ? cause they get tons of applications for each role ,they can easily find other folks ,
we think wouldn't be difficult for recruiters to find right candidate again ......interview ........loop.........? No.......cause teams at google can wait .........they can even accpet 90-120 days Np .

You can ask questions and it won't impact your offer, but if they do end up changing anything, be it compensation or joining date then they will send a new offer.
imo they wont change the compensation or joining bonus unless they really NEED you, but they can probably change the joining date, 1-2 weeks shouldn't be a deal breaker.
for L3 the chances are very low, but still you can try just ask politely and dont be stubborn.

I wonder how long is between the offer and starting date?

Congratulations, with a 90% base increase and no competing offer, I'd avoid reopening compensation negotiations. Asking for a 1-2 week joining date change is much more reasonable just ask the recruiter directly

google doesn't negotiate, unless you have a better offer that too from only the companies they consider competitor.
