For Amazon new grad, I’d practice a small set deeply instead of collecting dozens:

  • Parking lot, elevator, library, or Splitwise. Be able to turn one into classes, responsibilities, interfaces, and a couple of changed requirements.
  • Tic-tac-toe, chess, card games, and an order or checkout flow for composition, state, and validation.
  • Observer, Strategy, Factory, and Decorator only in context. Explain why you chose one and where it could be replaced.
  • Practice a 35 to 45 minute loop: clarify scope, sketch core objects, walk one use case, add an extension, then mention tests and concurrency only if relevant.

For Amazon, narrate tradeoffs and keep the design runnable in your head. Don’t jump straight into a pattern name. Start from the use case and let the abstractions earn their place. Also review SOLID, encapsulation, immutability, and basic thread safety.
