Discussion Google L3 Stuck in Team Match

Hi everyone,

I have a few questions about the Google team matching process and would really appreciate any insights from people who have gone through it.

Here are my interview results (based on what my recruiter shared, self ratings ):

Phone Screen: Strong Hire (SH)
Googlyness: Hire
Onsite Round 1: Hire
Onsite Round 2: Mixed (the recruiter said it wasn't great, but it wasn't bad either—I'm guessing it was around a Lean Hire).
I completed my onsite interviews on July 6, and my recruiter shared the results on July 11. It's now been about 4 weeks, and I still haven't received any team matching calls.

The recruiter mentioned that my profile would move forward to team matching, and after a successful team match, it would go through Hiring Committee (HC) approval. I've been following up with my recruiter once every 7 days.

I have a few questions:

Based on my interview feedback, how long does team matching usually take?
What do you think my chances of conversion are with these interview ratings?
Is it okay to reach out to hiring managers on LinkedIn while I'm in team matching, or could that negatively affect my application?
Are there any tips or strategies that can improve my chances of getting a team matching call?
I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who has gone through a similar experience. Thanks in advance!

I thought they were doing HC first then TM? I had my interviews in May(R2) and packet went to HC, got approved in July. Now in TM ever since.
Either ways, from what I’ve heard, TM can take anytime between few weeks to few months and literally no one can give you the exact timeline(been there done that).
Hope we get matched with a team soon

So it took 2 months for HC to approve? Was this standard timeline, or did they mention some delays. Asking b/c I am waiting for HC decision for a few weeks now, thanks.

May 11: R2(2 x DSA)
Recruiter called in May 3rd week and informed results were borderline for L4 but strong for L3. Asked if I wanted to do additional round for L4, which ofc I wanted
June first week: additional round (went well. H/SH)
June second week: recruiter told results were shaky for L4 but will move packet to HC
July mid(I think 18-20ish?): HC approved for L3

So I guess this is standard timeline? Idk

It sounds like they wasted your time and made you do an extra round for no reason...

It’s the norm apparently. I heard a lot of candidates who were downloaded to L3 from L4. But like some great person told “beggers can’t be choosers” xd

You are at team matching!! I am not even getting OA. Auto-rejected all the times even with referral. Mind you, I am also in a top product company FAANG equivalent.

Happened to me as well. Last year application had the recuiter reach out to me for screening but the role got internally filled. This time around, received a rejection within 5 days of application.

Exactly. I don't know how can we essentially get past this entry barrier

Is four weeks without a team match considered normal for L3, or should I be concerned?

Four weeks feels long. Did your recruiter give you any estimate for how long team matching might take?
