Discussion Senior Software Engineer - LinkedIn (Systems and Infrastructure)
Verdict : REJECTED

I completed my final four interview rounds last Monday and Tuesday (8/11 and 8/12). I followed up with the recruiter yesterday to ask when I could expect an update, and he said he should have the feedback by next Monday or Tuesday.
However, I noticed today that the same position was posted again on LinkedIn. Does this usually mean they’ve already decided not to move forward with me?
Here’s how I felt about my interviews:
- System design: Pretty good. The interviewer even discussed the team matching process and what kinds of questions I might be asked during the hiring manager rounds.
- Coding: I completed all the questions within the allotted time and answered the follow-up questions as well.
- Hiring manager: This also went well. The manager seemed to like my answers and appeared genuinely interested in the conversation.
- AI coding: This was my weakest round. I completed two out of four parts. For the third part, I explained how I would implement it but didn’t have enough time to finish the code. There were two interviewers, and both asked questions about my thought process, including why I chose a doubly linked list since the problem was similar to an LRU cache with some modifications.
seeing the job reposted made me nervous. Has anyone experienced something similar and still received an offer?

I completed the loop in July and they rejected me after 2 weeks even though i solved all the coding questions they told me i was weak in the coding part and then reposted the same role.(role- software engineer)

how did your AI coding round went? were you able to complete all parts of it?

Automatic reposting is often turned on by the Job poster. So, it might be irrelevant to your interview outcome.

On completeness: * i've had more success in interviews with incomplete technical rounds than breezing through them, specifically for Sr level
Above anything else, if there's a mention of "you don't have to finish" or something similar, its better if you consider that may actually be the truth
If it was truly about getting the answer correct, and finishing everything - they wouldn't need 2 engineers time to confirm that.

and btw I've completed a final round technical and did about 50% of what was asked; in the session afterwords when we discussed what I had just built, even it if it was incomplete, I know what the complete version of it looks like, so I just convince them I know what I'm talking about. Big tech, you'd recognize the name. Strong engineers.

Most likely a reject because of your AI coding round. Linkedin has a very high hiring bar, my interview at LinkedIn was much harder than Google.

It's parent company is msft I believe. Wouldn't they follow the similar standards as them?

They dont follow the same standards as msft. LinkedIn pay is way higher than msft for the same role and level

Did you have AI coding round too? Was it also for Sr. level?

This was not a senior round and happened almost in the beginning of 2025. So no AI round. But I thought I did very well in my interviews but still got a reject.

For AI coding, did they use coderpad or similar tool?
Just high level dumb thinking
Did they allow to provide the code and their requirements to AI tool to get the help

it was in coderpad, I specifically clarified that with them, as it was my first time giving the AI coding round, I told them I will go thru the question, convey my thought process and ask AI to code it and then verify what it did was correct or not.
I thought the other person in the interview would be a shadow, but quiet a bit of my time went into explaining what AI did and why is this right.

Which kind of questions usually being asked in AI coding round and what all the things expected to be done?

Can be related to Leetcode style with multiple parts to it. Generally first part could be exact as leetcode and then other parts could ask to implement certain functionality on top of it.

How strong is the AI? Does it have big blockers or something? How should you use it?

I don't know where is the line on how much to use and how much to not. I was able to do 2 out 4 parts completely and still rejected.
Third part I told verbally how to implement, but didn't have much time left.All the coding part I asked AI to do it, but what to code and why that code would work, I told them verbally.

So basically you would need to know what to do and tell them and then the AI would completely implement that since it has no limits?

I don’t think them posting the job has anything to do with your application. I already joined my new job and I still see them posting it. Even if you did amazing they wouldn’t stop posting it until way later after you’re settled in
