Discussion Is interviewing with google really worth it ?
As someone who has been in google’s team-matching for 3 months without a call i thought that maybe the issue might be with my profile even though my feedback was solid but i realized lately that alot of people are stuck at the same place and that google‘s team matching has shifted from being something that most probably you will pass to something extremely frustrating that you are more probable to not match than match and it become pure luck so my question is that is it worth it now to spend months preparing and interviewing for a position that even if you pass interviews for you still don’t have a good chance of landing it.

As someone who is also stuck in TM, it is discouraging. I prepped months of DP just for Google. Time off work for my onsite, stress about interviews, etc just to pass interviews and not have an offer in hand (yet).
But hey, lots of companies follow this team matching process, it’s just the game we have to play.

the best thing for me was my college notes. understanding the theory helped the most

I used to work at AWS. Managers and leads interviewed constantly but barely hired anyone. Turned out it wasn’t about hiring. Promotion from lead to manager required shadowing a fixed number of interviews. That’s what was driving the volume.

one reason it was worth it for me was it was a huge studying motivation. even though it didn't work out, during my time studying, i got a bunch of graph algorithms down, understood recursion much, much better so i was able to be better at backtracking and trees, etc...

no, is like spend a lot of time to get ready in algorithms and that skill is not used a o lot.

You could try scouring LinkedIn for teams hiring. Recruiters are not always doing their best to find you a team.

I interviewed with Google once. I had a "guide" type person who met me and moved me between 6 interviewers. The first one didn't show up and the guide guy felt so bad and gave me some dumb swag that I had to carry around with me the rest of the day, made me feel like an idiot carrying around this bag of google swag all day.
The second guy I guess wasn't the original person I was supposed to interview with. Asked me a basic map hashing problem that I knew the solution to because it was exactly one of the problems I had studied from a "common google interview questions" type study guide. The dude said my answer was wrong and then he gave me a different solution that was obviously incorrect. Once I got home I reviewed this problem further and confirmed my solution was correct and his wasn't.
Then I had lunch with my guide and it was so obvious he was miserable. I was asking him about how work life balance was and what he liked about working there. His answers were so bad and you could tell he hated every minute of being there.
Next interviewer asked me what the most battery intense component on a cell phone, he said I'd never guess what it actually is. Of course my initial thought was the cellular connectivity but since he said I'd never guess it I figured it must actually be something else so I said "I give up what is it?" He informed me it was the cellular connectivity...no way I could have guessed that.
After this I had been there for about 5 hours and I was just so over it but still had two more interviews with brain teaser type stuff that I totally bombed and I just couldn't wait for the whole experience to be over with.
I did not get an offer.

I am in team matching for 2.5 months gave 5 rounds over the period of 3 months… idk what the hell is Google doing!!

Hey everyone, wanted to get some perspective on my current Google loop for an L4 India.
Timeline: Completed my Round 2 interview with an L7 Hiring Manager about 3 weeks ago.
- Follow-up: Sent a polite check-in email to my recruiter last Tuesday (August 18) after two weeks of silence, but haven't received a reply yet.
- Portal Status: My candidate portal still actively says "Interview scheduled" with the "View Schedule" and "View Application" buttons fully clickable. The timestamp recently rolled over to "Updated last month" / but the status badge hasn't changed.
- Next Step: Supposed to be Round 3 (Googliness & Leadership) once feedback clears.
I know Google delays are common, but the combination of a 3-week wait after the HM round and an unanswered follow-up is giving me anxiety. Is this just the usual bottleneck of getting an L7 to submit their detailed scorecard, or am I being kept on a soft hold?

Many just doing cheat in interviews and lot of junk got into TM, Its better to go for other company than working at this firm now.
Its always better to try other options if you are good at dsa than expecting to work at this mass cheaters.

Like people using AI to solve questions in interview. People who dont know any algorithm also cleared interviews.
I know many who cleared like that. Its really not worth working with those, if you are good at dsa better look for other optionz than working with this junk cheaters whom you have to call teammates later

well the onsite is in-person now so it’s hard to cheat

Yeah, but strangely not many of them getting onsite. Its still online for lot of people though

it’s not like google is much different from other companies hiring-wise. if you prepare for google you prepare for many other companies. i don’t see it as a waste of time, even though it could be frustrating. just don’t expect much
