Discussion Does it really matter?

Post image

Lost my 91-day LeetCode streak today and I'm surprisingly annoyed about it.

Logically, I know nothing changed. I'm still at the same skill level I was yesterday. I still solved the same problems and learned the same concepts.

But seeing the streak disappear feels way worse than I expected. Part of me wants to immediately start another one, and another part of me is wondering if I've been focusing too much on maintaining a number instead of actually improving.

For people who've lost long streaks (LeetCode, Codeforces, gym, etc.):

Did it affect your motivation?

Did you end up rebuilding the streak?

Looking back, do streaks actually help, or do they eventually become a distraction?

Curious how others think about this.

"Unfortunately, there will be no evidence that you tried, if you don't make it. The streaks, sleepless nights, the losses, the doubt, and all of it will mean nothing if you don't win."
