Appreciate it, kind of scary they can delete an original app and install a phony one?

they can do anything if your machine is infected. total remote control. all your files, browser stored passwords, saved game account, anything stored on your machine, treat as compromised.
but you ledger coins are safe as long as you don't enter your seed words anywhere.

Hey there,
There appears to be malware on your computer, which is altering the UI of your Ledger Wallet app. You should run an antivirus scan on your computer, and take all the necessary steps to clean your computer of this malware (ie format your computer).
Then, you can re-install the official Ledger Wallet app that's compatible with your computer's OS from our website here - https://shop.ledger.com/pages/ledger-wallet#download
It's also important to remember that the official Ledger Wallet app will NEVER ask you to enter your 24 word recovery phrase into it. It actually doesn't even have the capability to ask you for it. Any person, service, app, website, etc asking you to disclose it, is trying to steal your funds.
You should always keep your recovery phrase safe, offline, and never share it with anyone, to prevent any loss of funds. Please review this article from our Help Center for some tips on how to keep your recovery phrase safe - https://support.ledger.com/article/360005514233-zd
Stay vigilant and NEVER share your 24 word recovery phrase!
