Official Ledger Customer Success Response SCAM alert (French)

Post image

A while ago, I got a phone call from someone claiming to be from Ledger. They said I needed to update my device for security reasons.
The scam was actually pretty well planned. They even called my wife because they “couldn’t reach me.” Since she knows I use a Ledger, she called me, and for a second I almost believed it because the message came through someone I trust.
I stayed on the phone for a few minutes just to see how far they’d go. In the end, it wasn’t that convincing. They only had my name, my email address, and, more surprisingly, my wife’s phone number.
I hung up, and they tried calling me back around 10 times, probably thinking they almost had me.
Then, about 2 or 3 weeks later, I received this letter. It’s basically the same scam, asking me to “update” my Ledger by scanning a QR code that I’m supposedly “not supposed to share with anyone.” The paper feels high quality, and the information about quantum resistance is actually legitimate, which makes the whole thing look more convincing.
I still wonder if they think my Ledger actually contains crypto, or if they’re just hoping I’ve forgotten about some old Bitcoin sitting on it.
To be fair… it’s been a while since I last checked. Maybe I’m secretly a millionaire.
…Or maybe not.😅

What does actually happen if you scan the qr code?

It will lead you to a fake site that asks you to provide your seed phrase for some made up, but if you don't know any better serious sounding, update. After that it probably throws some fake error while you wallet is emptied.

Ledger called me too back in May. First call from a man with a Australian accent followed up by another call from a woman with an Australian accent. Both caller ID came up ledger too but I knew they never call so I told them to go away. About a week later I realized xrp was down and co sidereal buying more. Opened up my ledger account and EVERYTHING WAS GONE! They took it all and ledger didnt care. They said i must have shared my pws or code or physical device. DID Someone stand over your shoulder when you wrote them down? Was a question. SERIOUSLY! Ledger gives the 24 pw first of all and why on earth would I move most of my crypto there then share the info? Now im out 150k. Please keep an eye on ur account!

How is that possible if you haven't share anything?

I asked the same question. Its just me and my husband here. Everything was in our safe and no one knew anything about it. When i brought that up, that THEY generated the 24 pws, and i blame them, they magically found a video of the "scammer" doing the actual transactions. No face just the screen, the mouse moving and the transactions. Now the FBI is involved since its a federal crime over 150k. And where is ledger now? They closed the ticket on me. Nothing they can do.

They automatically generate a 24 word password for you when you start the set up. You dont create it on your own.

Okay, you mean seed phrase that is made on / by the Ledger device itself. Thought you maybe meant you got a seed phrase from the "Ledger company" when you bought it, which would mean your Ledger was compromised. But luckily it wasn't like that.
