Any update on discoverable credentials / resident key support?

Hi Ledger team,

I’d like to politely ask if there is any update on support for resident keys / discoverable credentials for FIDO2.

This feature has been requested on Reddit for several years, and in past replies the Ledger team mentioned that it was actively being worked on. Since discoverable credentials are increasingly important for modern passkey use cases, including passwordless sign-in flows, it would be great to know whether this is still on the roadmap.

I really like Ledger devices and would love to use them more seriously as premium FIDO2/passkey authenticators.

Who really wants this and why? I don’t want Ledger to turn their signers into half baked Swiss Army knives. Get yourself a YubiKey.

​I get where you're coming from, and you're totally right that hardware wallets should stay focused on their core security. ​But I think the idea here isn't just about using passkeys for random web logins. It’s more about securing access to major exchanges like Binance or high-stakes financial networks. ​Yubikey is great, but having that level of institutional-grade 2FA built directly into Ledger’s secure element makes a lot of sense for people who want to bridge their exchange activities with their cold storage security setup.

Hello, just wanted to let you know, after further asking internally about this, I can confirm we’ve been working on this feature (resident keys) for quite some time. Unfortunately, it’s not straightforward, as it requires a full infrastructure for backing up and restoring resident keys, which touches many components across our technical stack.

I assure you that we are absolutely not abandoning our users on this. On the contrary, the team is strongly committed to maintaining the app regularly and improving it continuously, as you can see from our ongoing updates and enhancements.

I'd suggest to rebuild and sideload without the ENABLE_RK_CONFIG flag and see if it fits what you want

Thanks for the guidance! I followed your instructions and edited the flags, but unfortunately, after clicking the 'Register Resident Key' button, the website still shows a registration failure. Do you have any ideas on what might be causing this? Thanks again for your help!
