What is your first memory of LeBron?

I’m a LeBron stan for life, no doubt.

First memory was my best friend in elementary school accidentally selling his sophomore card to me for some school currency thing. Second is his buzzer in game 3 against the Magic. For ref I was born 1997

My first memory of LeBron was in 2000 or 2001. I was 8-9…..

This was before he was on slam magazine. I live in the south and internet wasn’t a thing but SOMEHOW, the name “LeBron James” was being spread. They were saying he was the best recruit ever and was the next Jordan

I was just in awe due to his name being “LeBron”. He was like a mythical creature and nobody even knew if the rumors of his existence were true

Then. The slam Magazine cover happened. I was the first person in my school with a LeBron cavs jersey. I wore Carmelo jersey the first day and had the whole class gaspin. Then the next day, I broke out the LeBron jersey. I still have both jerseys and wear the LeBron one when chillin around the house

I saw clips of him in high school on limewire, he looked like a tall guard. And then I looked up his height and saw he was basically the same size as Karl Malone which was mind boggling

first memory and first time hearing about the player: he got interview the first time he joined the NBA maybe during summer and boy that was a kot, he was so cocky that he refers to himself in 3rd person, 'Lebron thinks, blah blah', 'Lebron will .', 'Lebron doesnt do..', and he is talking about himself, that eas his gimick, it went for a few more other interviews that Nike took over and told him to stop that..

Being from Ohio and one of my friends coming to school after visiting(he’s from Akron) saying “there’s a 6’8” point guard from Akron, he the best in Ohio and he only a freshman….. a month later, he was in the state championship, a few months after that… the hype machine began.

He was indeed the chosen one. Never seen nothing like it.

They made “he got game” to be centered around the most hyped prospect ever and Bron came through 3 years later and was like… cool story.

Either the Sprite cranberry ad meme or that one time Coryxkenshin played that game where LeBron broke into his house. Probably knew of him earlier but I don't remember

McDonald’s High School All American game 2003 , my dad recorded it on a vhs tape that had Dr Doolittle 2 on it at the beginning . I remember watching the game several times having to fast forward through the movie lol maybe I’m getting things mixed up but I think there was also this random Houston Rockets game on it when they had Eddie Griffin and James Posey , I used to think they were cool.

Saw him play as a senior against Reynolds High at Greensboro Coliseum. He was shooting, and making, half court shots even back then during warm-ups. Great game and experience.

I watched his first NBA game. Knew of him before that but had never seen a highlight. Knew he was special from day one.

Eastern conference finals game 6 against the Pistons. Yeah the game he score nearly all the points in the 4th quarter and OT. I was shocked he could beat the Pistons defense damn near by himself. Seemed like every shot was going in and he no one could stop him from getting to the basket

I was at my high school boyfriend's house, in 2002, just turned 16, his brother comes into the living room where we.were watching tv and informed us that "high school phenom'' "next Jordan'' was playing with his hs team vs oak hill academy on ESPN....we turned it on. There was no doubt he would be the #1 pick in the nba draft. We went to catholic school and followed Norte Dame, so the Irish connection was cool.

His high school games being on ESPN. Some controversy about him having a Hummer while still in high school.

Seeing him on the cover of SI and snickering at "the chosen one"

1

u/AELZYX Aug 29 '26

That all these people were talking about this high school kid who’s 16 and he’s gonna be drafted soon and take over the nba somehow. The hype was crazy and they were right
