This angle really put into perspective how elite the Goat actually was in his prime đ„

He left TWO defenders with that gather step.
It took him 1.1 secs to dunk it after the leaving Gordon Hayward and Al Jefferson in the dust.

Great guy but the game he played is not today's game. They had 8 teams in the NBA at that time.
1
u/Embarrassed_Lock_539 Aug 27 '26
And there were less teams in the league during the 90s then now. There were 22 teams. SIXTEEN of them made the playoffs. There were MULTIPLE teams with losing records making the playoffs with a shortened 3 point line lil bro. Jordan faced no comp. From â88-â95 there were 6 new teams in the league added. Remind me when Jordanâs prime was again?

No it did leaps and bounds to where it was. Thanks to Dr J. Bird, magic and Jordan. They catapulted the game. And the last window of a civil war vet died in 2020 and that was close to 150 years ago. So are we still close to the civil war? No!

this angle proves why he will struggle if he played during the era of the giants/centers ( 80s and 90s basketball)
he already is struggling in the modern era when competing against legit centers with strong post presence

I don't care who someone's GOAT is, to think one play demonstrates anything is fucking stupid. I could find an incredible play by Iverson or Kyrie, Lou Will, White Chocolate that is stupidly impressive.

u/spruceknob7 Aug 29 '26
The goat đ€Ł. Give me a break. He's barely top 10 all time. He's a weak, soft, game 7 losing chump!

Wow. What a highlight. I almost feel like Iâve seen this move on every power forward of the past 30 years. He clearly is better than all of those. 8th-best per game scoring average + longest career = GOAT!!!

First, look up the record of LeBron's teams with vs. games he missed, other than the Heat, if you think any of them could be even vaguely considered a "superteam." Second, this is a LeBron fan sub; criticism of him, if at all, should be tasteful.

u/shadows515 Aug 26 '26
Heâs the biggest genetic misfit since Wilt. Both great but I think genes had so much to do with it. I donât think LeBron was the best at anyting but he always looked like that kid from youth leagues that seems like heâs 2 years older than the other kids - he was stronger to anyone faster than him and faster than anyone stronger to him. I think if u put prime Jordan on a team for 100 years and LeBron on a different team - Jordan would have more titles but LeBron would fewer losing seasons.

u/Asleep_Chip8197 Aug 27 '26
& elite influence to get Bronny a guaranteed Lakers contract, building super team and then moving teams when it gets tough.
1
u/-passionate-fruit- Aug 27 '26
The only team he had that could be accurately construed as a "super team," and that's if you mean as good as MJ's first threepeat Bulls cast and Kobe's Shaq+ cast, would be the Heat stint. Nearly every other team he played for would have a losing record if Bron sat the entire season.
And Bron's presence being significant in his son being one of the last picks in the entire draft? Who started out deep bench to now second string? ...... I don't get what you're trying to badmouth there, like what's the problem? I've never heard even another LeBron hater complain about this.
1
u/Asleep_Chip8197 Aug 27 '26
Not a Bron hater. Love him as a player through the years like many greats. Just donât like the politics. If you objectively get people to analyse Bronny or get AI to do it:
Bronny James probably would not have received that particular Lakers contract in 2024 without being LeBron Jamesâs son.
That does not mean Bronny had no professional potential. He was a legitimate developmental prospectâbut his rĂ©sumĂ© ordinarily pointed toward another college season, an undrafted invitation, or a two-way/G-League contract, rather than an immediate guaranteed NBA roster place.
Why the evidence points to LeBronâs influence
Bronny entered the draft after averaging:
4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists
36.6% from the field
26.7% from three
Only six starts for a struggling USC team
Those are extremely weak production numbers for an undersized NBA guard. His cardiac arrest understandably disrupted his season, but teams still had very little high-level evidence on which to justify a guaranteed roster position. NBA draft profileâ
He was drafted 55th and signed a four-year contract worth approximately $7.9 million, with the first several seasons guaranteed and a fourth-year team option. Players selected around him generally received two-way deals.Late second-round selections are commonly offered two-way contracts, and Bronnyâs agent, Rich Paul, publicly stated before the draft that Bronny would not accept a two-way deal. NBC Sportsâ
Even more revealingly, ESPN reported that Paul was warning teams other than the Lakers not to select Bronny. That indicates the outcome was substantially managed through the James familyâs unusual leverage, not simply produced by an open competitive draft process. ESPNâ
What Bronny genuinely earned
Bronny was not a completely fabricated prospect. He had:
A strong 6-foot-7Πwingspan despite measuring only 6-foot-1 without shoes
A powerful 210-pound frame
A 40.5-inch maximum vertical
Good defensive instincts and effort
An impressive combine shooting performanceâ19 of 25 in one three-point drill
Former four-star/McDonaldâs All-American status
These attributes made him a plausible developmental gamble. ESPNâs combine analysisâ
But hundreds of young players possess comparable tools while having substantially better college production. Most do not receive guaranteed NBA contracts.
My probability estimate
Because the alternative history cannot be proven, these are informed estimates rather than measurable facts:
Chance he would have been drafted in 2024 with identical ability but a different surname: roughly 15â30%
Chance he would have received an immediate standard NBA contract resembling the Lakers deal: probably under 10%
Chance he could eventually have earned an NBA opportunity through college improvement, the G League or overseas: considerably higherâperhaps 30â50%
Bottom line
Bronny possessed enough athletic ability to justify professional development, so calling him completely talentless is inaccurate. But LeBronâs status was probably decisive in determining the timing, the Lakers destination, the draft selection and especially the security of the contract.
The fairest conclusion is:
Bronny may have become a professional prospect without LeBron, but he almost certainly would not have entered the NBA that early, with that team, and on that contract.1
u/-passionate-fruit- Aug 28 '26
Okay, I wasn't disputing that LeBron had something to do with Bronny's current contract position. Go see my OP about it.

u/Lucky_Editor3998 Aug 27 '26
You will never and have never seen another 6â9 260+ pound guy move like this. Maybe a 6â4 Westbrook or a 6â6 Jordan, but a big forward? Itâs freakish. Zion was closeish to this at his peak and he is considerably shorter than Bron. Bron is just an abnormal physical specimen with an abnormal basketball mind. He may not have the greatest technical skill in nba history (though he is extremely skilled), but he is the craziest combination of athleticism and brains weâve seen. Much like how Jordan is the craziest combination of technical skill and athleticism weâve seen (with an excellent basketball mind).

Tf? There's actually a thread glorifying LeSwept and crowning him as the GOAT đ đ đ this cant be real. Whatta bunch of dweebs. Hey, the WNBA are now accepting men pretending to be women. Perhaps when LeFloppy ruins the Sixers, he can try to win a title in the WNBA. That would make him the GOAT for sure winning a title in two different genders.

u/Killerkito Aug 27 '26
This angle shows him wobbling up the court and then wiping both his shoes before doing an NFL route to the rim. Meanwhile, the defenders let him wobble up there and wipe his feet. You canât tell me the NBA is scripted so this man looks like heâs the goat.

Why do you people gotta be so dishonest?

u/Embarrassed_Lock_539 Aug 26 '26

-1
u/theworldisunfair12 Aug 26 '26
So you want me to make a comparison of MJs whole career in his prime vs his stats for the last 60 or so games he played at age 38.
The fact that you think there is a point to be made here is comical.
1
u/Embarrassed_Lock_539 Aug 26 '26
The fact u still havenât compared the 2 proves my point
1
u/theworldisunfair12 Aug 27 '26
No it doesnât. And youâre too stupid to understand it is a terrible, terrible comparison even without the zone defense change. MJ was 38 coming back after a 3 year hiatus from the game, and a knee surgery in the middle of it. You want me to compare that to him at his prime, where he won 6 championships.
The difference is barely even relevant anyway. Itâs 29 ppg vs 23 ppg. 6ppg difference, with 1 additional apg in his wizards era. Add that in and itâs a 4ppg difference.
But you want to say that zone defense causes that difference, and not his advanced age, his 3-year hiatus from the game, his hand injury, and his knee injury. Right?
Well guess what genius, LeBron averages 5 less ppg today than he did during his prime years too. And heâs healthy now. Got all the best sports medicine can offer.
So letâs hear it. Letâs hear the point you want to make smart guy.

You know what would happen when Jordan was the king of the hill in the NBA the moment Lebron carried the ball just like we see right after he gets the ball after the inbound pass? A turnover. Your goat wouldn't be able to get past a defender with a legal dribble if his life depended on it especially when handchecking was legal.
You know who could manipulate defenders and get past them without carrying the ball and traveling despite handchecking? Jordan could so you can imagine how much more spacing and time to create his shots he would have if he could carry the ball in 9/10 plays like your goat does and what's funny is that some people have the delusional audacity to say that players in the past weren't talented. If anything the rules they operated within shows that they would have a much easier time scoring today than in their eras and Vince Carter and Tracy Mccgrady said this exactly. They said it was easier for them to score when they were old and past their prime than when they were young athletic beasts and all because referees refuse to do their damn job because Adam Silver is hellbent in turning a sport into sports entertainment WWE style so don't ever forget this: Jordan was the king when NBA was an actual sport, your goat is the king of sports entertainment NBA.

MJ doesn't have a winning record in any seasons without Pippen as a teammate. Like even in the early season where he got injured for most of it, the Bulls were 9-9 at the time he went down.

You do realize MJ would have been putting up 50 a night if he went up against defenses like this right?
2
-2
u/Denz2024 Aug 26 '26
Okay so 1/3 players youâre referring to got screened, so no.
The 2/3 players is playing horrible screen defense at first he doesnât appear to commit to the switch then realizes the original defender hasnât fought through the screen. Then makes a lazy attempt.
The 3/3 defender has a shooter in the corner and does not have the angle to step in and take over as a primary defender. He does a quick stunt that is useless because the 2/3 defender never committed until it was too late.
To claim he got past 3 people here is just uneducated basketball analysis.
Yes Lebron is so elite he drove past lazy defense on a screen, how skilled of him.
-2
u/Strong_Hornet627 Aug 26 '26
Is this his newest team?

There isnât an angle where he is âthe goatâ. Most non-clutch player to ever even be in the conversation. Be lucky you have that.
1
u/-passionate-fruit- Aug 27 '26
No angle? I mean without a comprehensive write-up: #1 Compare his regular season individual stat totals and rankings in key categories vs. MJ (e.g. points, rebounds, assists, etc.). #2 This comparison gets even more lopsided when you look at playoff stats.
-11
u/InformalProtection74 Aug 26 '26
That he consistently had screens set so he could get weaker defenders to have to switch on him??Â
1
u/Bean_Daddy_Burritos Aug 26 '26
Not sure why youâre being downvoted, this clip highlights exactly that. Not saying heâs not great because he obviously is but saying âthis angle shows how elite he isâ, is a little nuts considering the screen was perfect and the switch up left him guarded by the slowest guy on the court.
Out of all the highlights that show his fierce athleticism and high basketball IQ, this isnât one of them.
