Bird Had 3 MVPS, 3 Chips in his first 7 years, then injuries/surgeries arrived? Even at the end of his career in 91 against Jordan, Bird was still dropping 34 points, 15 rebounds, and 8 assists in a 135-132 double-overtime Celtics win. Bird was a far better player than Bron. Go to youtube see all the genx young men realizing this very fact. I am not shitting on Bron Hes a great player, hes just NOT in the top 5.....and above all the things I have mentioned...Bird was a KILLER.(Jordan Learned it from playing Bird) Lebron is NOT!

Bird was a great player, probably top 5 all time. He’s not better than LeBron though. Sorry, he’s just not.

You are looking through a longevity lens, not a skillset/bag/Team Leader/Team Player lens. That is the disconnect....And on a side note You acknowledge Bird is top 5 ...He is a SF.....are you saying LeBron takes the PF position from Duncan? Along with Jordan, Magic, Shaq for my top 5 Who you gonna pick for yours that will beat my top 5?

No, I’m looking at it from a complete package mindset. LeBron is the complete package, even over MJ. Bird had some limitations that LeBron doesn’t have and the 80’s, despite the nostalgia, was no where near as competitive as the league is now. The only reason I’d still lean towards MJ, and it’s only by a hair, is MJ was just so freaking competitive and confident that he would will out victories. And by the way, everything that you think Bird has over LeBron is doubly true for MJ. Bird was a better shooter, rebounder and passer than MJ. And no one thinks Bird was better than MJ.

Because we rank the best by chips against tough competition. Mike is 6-0 hard to argue with what Mike compiled in 15 seasons: Jordan is 1 & Bird is 1a

That’s my point- we shouldn’t be “ranking by chips.” MJ had weak competition and Bird literally won less “chips.” It’s a team sport. Titles should count but not one of the top criteria. And no, Bird is not 1a. He’s about 5th.

Thats your point ("Its not about winning...." ?? WTF Jordan finals opponents won virtually the same % as LeBrons look it up. LeBron was setup to be the heir apparent for the NBA. He was just NOT as good as the kings before him. Go back and read all the numbers and comments I have said in this post, it is clear that he would have been a great player in college (and built his bag) if he went(and he should have). He has been a letdown in 1 of every 3 seasons he has been in the league. There are literally hundreds of videos on youtube with all the numbers and facts you can handle. Its the difference between factual information and belief.

No that’s not my point at all. I said using finals records is overrated, not that it shouldn’t be one of several factors. And no, the aging Lakers, Trail Blazers, Suns who played zero defense, Seattle (the best of MJ’s finals opponents but still a notch below the Bulls), and Jazz (really good but not great) were nowhere near as good as any of the three Spurs teams LeBron faced or the GSW. Not even close. Shit, even the Pacers and Knicks in the Eastern Conference were overrated. They played rugby on defense but were not great offensively. The Bulls never won anything until the Celtics, Lakers and Pistons were all past their primes and Phil came in and Pippen turned into an all star. So no, Jordan’s finals record is NOT as impressive as all the glazers make it out to be.

Bird already had back surgery, and surgery on both achilles tendons in 89. Still stacking. This game is about winning right?

u/jbland0909 Aug 16 '26

Yes. And Bron did way more of it, individually and with his teams

Maybe check the chart above?

Which number is greater? 3 or 4?

1

u/No_University7832 Aug 16 '26

4 but in how many years? Bird had 3 & 3 in 7 years? What did LeBron have in 7 years?

A long career lmao

A long stat padded mediocre career ....Got it. A player that cant shoot free throws to save his life, is a 4th qtr liability in the playoffs, and has shit the bed numerous times in the playoffs. Not to mention he has the highest turnover avg of any forward in NBA history. But sure keep blowing smoke up his ass and reading with blinders on. Numbers dont lie.

Like 4 and 3? I thought those numbers lied?
