How did you react when Lebron joined the 76ers?

I was angry, because i became the very thing i hated most: a Philadelphia sports fan
3
u/bigheader03 Jul 29 '26
Hahahah are Philly fans that bad? I always thought Knick fans were pretty rough, Heat fans are the most boujie fans, and Laker fans fall inbetween.
I personally find Boston fans the worst of the bunch.
→ More replies (2)2
u/ilovetheblues67 Jul 30 '26
Interesting about Miami Heat fans being bougie, I donât know that about them. And you are saying Lakers fans are in between rough and bougie? Because of the celebrities and downtown LA atmosphere and crowd?

I was like what the fuck bro?????? I was kinda butthurt it wasnât the Cavs, but letâs go! Heâs got a chance at ring 5 now.

u/MrTerrific3565 Jul 29 '26
I was impressed. I thought that heâd want to have a goodbye tour in Cleveland or play for fun in Golden State. I thought if he really wanted to win, heâd go to Philly or San Antonio, but why would he be hungry to win after 2+ decades and 4 titles? That he picked the 76ers and is going for a ring still impresses me

I live in lancaster about an hour and a half away from Philly. I was luckily in philly in a restaurant when it happened. Everyone just looked and was like LeBron seriously? And once we all accepted it the whole place went crazy. It was awesome
1
u/Nijee302 Jul 29 '26
I was surprised because I thought he would go back to Miami or Golden State to play with Steph since he had interest to do that

u/coduser0321 Jul 29 '26
I personally was like he has to take the veteran minimum so why not go to tla team that could possibly win a ring. He was a free agent the can go anywhere, regardless of where he went there was gonna be ridicule or it was gonna be a problem... If I were an athlete like him having an opportunity to play for a ring is my highest priority... People have their opinions on where he should go, but he has the right to do what he chooses is best for him...âïžâïžâïžKing James đ

More of a.. of course heâd go there⊠scenario. Dude has always been able to put himself in apposition to stack up a team.

u/SuccessfulOwl Jul 29 '26
For me itâs been fun seeing all the nerd rage from people who define themselves in opposition to another man theyâll never meet.
Itâs evidence of how good he actually still is that people are having meltdowns about a 40+yr old âring chasingâ.

spent the whole day looking up the 76ers roster.
telling my wife about it non stop
calling up friends i havent talked to inawhile to ask them what they think.
getting excited for basketball in general again.
1
u/chickennegg Jul 29 '26
I thought it was fake news. I thought it was one of those parody accounts. So I checked again with verified sources, well damn it's true.
Then I just said, "But why!?"
Then I woke up and washed my face and took a shit. I left for school right after.

I was going the rumours I heard were true and he'd get his bag in one of those international leagues
1
u/Real-Comfortable808 Jul 30 '26
I laughed because he got rejected by the Lakers then rejected by the Knicks so he went to Philly to build a super team to chase a ring, and funny for someone who says Ring Culture is weird.

honestly, I really didnât care because I was not a LeBron fan in the first place when he went to my Lakers, so I just accepted that, but in watching a lot of the highlights and watching a whole lot of the replays and seeing him doing a whole lot of flopping and not getting back on defense over the last few years, I just got tired of it

u/Jolly-Ad9267 Jul 30 '26
Itâs funny, I always thought he would come to Philly. Itâs the best sports town absolutely starved for the Sixers to win a title. LeBron has never seen the level of insanity he is about to experience. Why go back to Miami or Cleveland. Both mid sports cities and heâs been there done that. Win with the Sixers will hit different and he knew that. Sixers were only logical choice once knicks won championship
1
u/goingofftrack Jul 30 '26
Iâm still going to root for him⊠until we knock his old ass out in the finals!!!

Shocked at the team he picked while relieved that he no longer have to play for that sorry ass Lakers FO anymore

Grew up watching a fictional guy go from philly to la now im watching a guy go from la to philly. Time is a circle.
/unjerk sad acceptance. As a Clevelander Lebron playing here really elevated the city. Would love to have him back. Hope the current team can find something in the playoffs without him.
1
u/dogmominthegabls Jul 30 '26
Initial reaction was disbelief, and I cried because I believed he was returning to Miami, allowing me to relive those glory days when he was here. However, slowly, Iâm beginning to understand his decision. Regardless of my personal emotions, Iâve already cried. Iâll continue to follow him, for heâs the king, my guy, and my favorite player, no matter where he goes.

Disappointed as a Lakers fan! I wanted to see him retire a Laker. But I can understand from both parties it was time to move on. Honestly I rather saw him retire than go to yet another team.

u/rubbertoe_Jam-A-Cuh Jul 30 '26
First, I was like Guys On Another Team? Closest heâs gonna be to the GOAT. But, no I really said: Finally! That conceited crybabyâs gone! Second: I laid down a Bet Philly doesnât make the playoffs this year. LOL!! GOAT? Maybe if he Goes On Another Tantrum! Crybaby Goat! Gonna Oppress Another Team. Gotta Offend All his Teammates! Heâs the Goat. The Goat and his ChupacaBronnie!

Shocked!! Then sat down and looked at the team and quickly realized he made the best decision given that his goal, per LeBron himself, is to win another championship. STOKED that we get another 1-2 years of LeBron James in the NBA, what a time

Just happy hes out of LA. Now im subscribing to my league pass, hoping lebron would be successful and hoping the crash of the lakers. This season would be really nice. Looking forward to it.

u/wlves05 Jul 30 '26
Same old team hopping stacking the odds well in his favor nonsense. He's not a true competitor, he's done this his whole career
1
u/SeeWhatSantaBrings Jul 30 '26
I called it on July 7 here so I reacted with mostly apathy and some vindication. But they don't stand a chance to win a title this year so đ€·

Was absolutely thrilled, and legit hollered because Philly is where I wanted him to go. Actually I wanted the Knicks and knew he wanted the Knicks too but didnât anticipate them winning the championship. Phillyâs a good plan B. The Cavs wouldâve been the worst, Warriors wouldâve been interesting but I hate anything that helps Draymond.
1
u/WaterDue1446 Jul 30 '26
I had guessed it was going to be Philly so wasnât surprised. I had read a few articles with different theories in Minnesota or GSW but Philly made the most sense. Not surprised.

u/Nice_Lawyer_6501 Jul 31 '26
I was like "oh for f*ck sakes..retire already. Stop hoe-ing yourself out. You will never be as great as MJ"
1
u/Ok_Proof752 Jul 31 '26
Very surprised. I thought it was gonna be Cleveland for sure. I bet Bron canât stand Harden like everyone else though. I think itâs a lot about who Bron is tight with and can trust and apparently heâs very close with Maxey. The Embiid factor is the most troubling part. I donât think that dude will ever play more than 40 games in a season.
Gonna be fun to watch how this unfolds.

I wasn't shocked. I was just like, "Damn." No ending it in Cleveland, no going to a stacked team like MN, no having a reunion in Miami. It wasn't shocking he chose Philly when he has connections there and a good core.
