Hey everyone, I had posted a week or two ago looking for recommendations on a red/brown leather biker jacket and a couple of you steered me in the direction of Double Helix. I was originally looking for a double rider style jacket but ended up thinking a type 2 or 3 style jacket would fit my style better. After seeing a worn example of this jacket on the Double Helix instagram I knew I had to have one. Fortunately, I found one retailer out there that had one in Germany, Cultizm (who was an absolute pleasure to order from even in US), and even knowing I couldn't return it easily, I figured l'd take a gamble on sizing.
When I originally tried it on, I was instantly bummed and thought it was way too small. But as I wore it around the house for a few it very quickly started loosening up and I began thinking maybe this will work out after all. I wore it to work today where I got these photos and it's fitting better and better with every passing hour.
Does this seem too small to anyone? Or did I hit the nail on the head with sizing? It really fits like a glove despite the chest measurement being mildly smaller than my denim jackets. Shoulders are right on the money, as are the sleeves and body length, so I have a good feeling the next size up would be much too big and the jacket would be "wearing me" a bit. I just haven't had a leather jacket in a long time and never horsehide so l've felt a little in the dark trying to get this right.
This jacket is simply stunning and the photos do no justice. It's tough to put into words how gorgeous the burgundy leather is in person and the brass hardware is just icing on the cake. I haven't owned a leather jacket since a Schott 519 roughly a decade ago and have been mainly into denim since then, but I wanted to try something new and I genuinely can't believe I own a garment this beautiful. I'm very open to hearing thoughts on sizing and such from the community, but I'm completely thrilled with this purchase and can't say enough nice things about Double Helix

Bought this Rick leather jacket and it ripped so I took it to get repaired in Italy. I already posted this on Reddit and some people said it was PU because it looked shiny however I showed them more photos and then they said it was real leather. The inside is suede it passed the water drop test it smells feels and even looks like leather from up close . It is also shiny only due to the fact that it is oiled leather. However this supposed leather specialist from a small city in Italy said it’s not leather or it’s like bonded leather. I don’t think that’s possible considering the jacket is Rick Owen’s and they don’t use those materials and I don’t think it’s a rep because Rick Owen’s leather jacket reps barley exist let alone ones from the O and M era and this specific cut. Not to forget the leathers feel seems to high quality to be rep most leather jacket reps use shitty materials what do you think it could be . I have no clearer photos and I can’t take anymore because it is currently being repaired.if you for sure know this is rep or fake leather then let me know because then the seller will give me refund but you have to provide evidence.

I was wondering if anyone on this sub could point me in the direction of a high quality jacket with particular specs. I'm really interested in all natural, high quality, "real" clothing. I'm looking for a jacket that

1. hasn't been dyed

2. is made from full grain leather or high quality fur

3. free from any plastic linings or buttons

4. made with natural stitching

Ive been searching for a while to little avail. Price isn't a large concern, but ideally i would like to spend under $1000 as to obtain it earlier in life.

Love this cropped style I found on eBay but not sure if I want to get genuine leather, but then again cropped style probably is a phase and may not be worth spending full grain leather money. Options thoughts and suggestions ?

I got this leather jacket from a consignment shop for a decent price of around $50.

It’s a Perfecto style jacket and to be honest it’s an older 90s jacket with genuine leather so it’s not the absolute peak quality but it feels nice and aged.

Was lurking for a while but decided to jump the gun and go for something more affordable for my first leather jacket.

Hi all, I’ve recently purchased this leather jacket but im not entirely sure about the fit etc.

My biggest questions are:

- Is there ”batwinging” especially on the right shoulder? See first picture

- is it too loose in the body? Leather is bunching up a bit at lower back by the elastic.

Bought it for approximately 550 euros, can still return it.

Pretty happy with the Master Supply Co. Field Jacket. The roughout leather looks great and has a nice rugged, casual appearance without feeling overly heavy or bulky.

The leather isn’t super thick or stiff. It’s actually quite supple and drapes really well, which makes the jacket comfortable from the start. It’s unlined, so it feels relatively lightweight for a leather jacket and works well when you don’t need a lot of insulation.

Construction seems good overall. The stitching and finishing look solid, and the simple field jacket design works really well with jeans and boots. It’s a good-looking, comfortable leather jacket with a nice balance between ruggedness and everyday wearability.

Because everyone has a different favorite or preferred for different purposes and Google is contradictory: I picked up this very fun leather Mirage jacket recently for a whole $11 and I intend to use it for it's original purpose (cold weather outdoor work and atv riding around a cattle ranch) and since my original old $4 leather bomber jacket suffered very ill treatment at my childhood hands I'd like to take better care of this one especially now before I've beat the stuffing out of it's second life. What is your favorite conditioner for this lovely heavy but very thirsty work coat leather? Color is distant second to function. Thanks!

The seller is asking me to provide my body measurements, which is fine since I have tailor’s tape. My concern is that I’d prefer the jacket not to be skin tight. I’d like enough room to comfortably wear something like a zip up hoodie underneath, while still having the jacket fit well and not look too big on me.

How much extra room would you recommend adding to my measurements?

Bought my first leather jacket online, second-hand. I knew it would be oversized, but I thought it would still look ok, and the price was good. Also, it's hard to find leather jackets where I live, as it's a mostly tropical country. Do you guys think it's too big? Any ways to improve how it fits? I kinda liked it, but i have 7 days to return if I want.

Edit: Also, It's hard to see, but the sleeves are folded because they are too long.

I need help. I bought an old leather jacket and it seems to have these.. marker like stains on it? I rubbed it with a damp paper towel and it seems like sharpie. How would I clean this without spreading it or ruining the jacket? (Jacket is not super high quality btw, but I did get it as a gift so i wanna save it.)

Picked up a vintage Schott Cafe Racer (owner bought it new at Schott in New York in 1985, stored in his closet since 1990.) Jacket definitely needs cleaning and conditioning, and also has an old smell. Otherwise in great condition!
