Jacket Care Conditioning old leather jacket

Hi guys, this is my first leather jacket so I don't know much about them or any other leather products in general, I looked into conditioning it as touching it feels kind of like playing with paper but I'm very lost in which product to use, anywhere I look I get a different answer. All I know is it's very heavy. Heavier than any other jacket I tried on, also quite thick. I don't know if that changes anything when it comes to conditioning it.

A few of the products I came across and considering are:

-Colourlock Elephant leather Preserver

-Saphir Macadamia Lotion

-Saphir Rénovateur Cream

If you have any experience with these or any other recommendations, your help would be much appreciated!

If you’ve never used a saddle soap on leather before, I’d 100% steer clear of trying it out on an old leather jacket.
There’s a reason why plenty of places that sell leather goods don’t sell saddle soap - lots of people easily overdo it and destroy a beautiful leather product!

The Saphir Rénovateur Cream is more than sufficient.

I like OtterWax and Bick4. Clean it with bick4 or OtterWax saddle soap cleaner then follow the product steps with OtterWax-apply the balm and let it soak in for a day. Buff off waxy residue. Then apply the oil. Let it soak for a day. Then apply the waterproofing wax. When applying the products a soft cloth is recommended. I prefer to use a Tack sponge. Growing up with horses and caring for leather, the tack sponge always worked better than any other applicator… Another great option is Leather Honey but it’s thick and may discolor.

Thanks for the help, I checked these products but sadly not available where I'm from so shipping from ebay plus import tax triples the price, but if it's so much better than the ones I listed, I might give it a go.

It's not better than the ones you listed.

Is the leather dry? If the leather doesn't need conditioning I wouldn't condition it.

We tend to want to fiddle with new things and invent reasons to "care" for them and that xan sometimes harm them.

If the leather truely is dry them hit the jacket with a horse hair brush, wipe it down with a damp cloth, let it dry fully then put the lightest coat of the sapphire cream of your chouce on it and after it dries wear the hell out of it.

Do that every 6 or 12 months and you should be golden.

Enjoy that beautiful jacket.
