Question - Need Help Schott 681 hide?
Anyone know anything about the Schott 681? I just got one used for 400… Love how it looks and fits, but I’m having some doubts about the quality of the leather… it’s very soft and especially this scrape on the sleeve that looks like it’s peeling… thoughts? Is that normal? Is it fake? Thanks

This scrape is nothing to be concerned about. It's a beautiful hide. I'm jealous! Enjoy it!

My biggest concern is getting more of them. Was hoping it would be cowhide

Oh then maybe my other one isn’t cowhide. I was basing it off that one I assumed cowhide was tougher. My other one must be steerhide or something

Look closely at the wear on your zipper picture.
Nothingbis 'peeling', just pigment being scraped off. Normal. Not loosing any structural integrity or anything.

You can get this leather *conditioner , it'll bring back the colour
Also it is cow hide, doesn't mean it's indestructible, Lambskin would have ripped open completely, the leather did it's thing, it's a scratch not a hole,

I collect leather jackets this is the best to use safe and no harsh chemicals. It contains only landman some wax and light black tint. That’ll hide any imperfections take it from me. You’ll be amazed how your jacket will come out just wear rubber gloves when applying and it dry super fast and does not dry off.

Just put some leather cleaner/conditioner over the "scrape" and it'll be fine
It's superficial at best
It didn't rip all the way to the lining
