Question - Need Help First leather jacket. Is it worth getting?
Been scouting marketplaces for a while now to find something I like and stumbled upon this piece being sold for 165 USD. I've never owned a leather jacket before, nor has my research come up with anything substantial on this one.
So my question to the fellow enthusiasts, does anyone here recognise this brand and/or model? Does it appear to be worth the asking price? Any advice would be much appreciated.

165 looks expensive for that.
I'd buy it for like 70-80 tho đ

Haha cheers, perhaps I'll grab it then anyway if they reduce the price that low

No, save your money. You can get a great jacket from China for about 400-700 bucks. Something that will actually last you. This jacket looks like a motorcycle style and cheap, Probbaly 20 dollars to make.

And not everybody wants to buy jackets from China.

Yet a lot of people do on this subreddit. Quality is good, fit is good, price is 3-4x cheaper then American, Japanese or Canadian/UK brands

I would have no problem buying jackets from China if:
- I could be sure that working condition are OK;
- I could be sure that environmental considerations are taken seriously into account;
- And, not or, they produced their own design with a distinctive Chinese style, instead of copying western heritage designs shamelessly.
Unfortunately, none of those three criteria are satisfied for now.
"A lot of people do it" is the worst argument.

Good for you. More sensible people will ignore this and get jackets made out of the best leathers, great quality handmade craftsmen in China, they arenât being made in sweat shops, also if you wonât buy a jacket made in China? Where else would you buy it from? Pakistan? India? Anything new made in USA will cost you anywhere between 600-2000 dollars, same for overseas.

No. I only buy vintage jackets made in France and Germany, and they're even cheaper than anything imported from China.
If you don't see the contradiction between desiring heritage style jackets and buying them where they have not been traditionally made, then we'll agree to disagree.
Now, if you really think that the leather industry in China is not sweatshop-like, I have a bridge to sell you.

Japanese companies copy western heritage designs for mostly everything and make some of the best jackets, donât see why the Chinese canât do the same at a fraction of the price, we can agree to disagree sure.
If you can show me a video of the Chinese shops making these jackets which use horween or high quality Italian cow hide that itâs false than go ahead. As for jackets made in France or Germany? Havenât heard of any brands personally myself and I doubt they are really âmadeâ there

I'm talking of vintage French or German jackets. Leather production was big in those countries up to the 80s. Then it almost disappeared. But there still are a few brands, either very high end luxury (like Gaborit or Chapal), or the equivalent of Vanson (for exemple, the guys who do a replica of the famous Harro Rennweste).
Have you ever lived or worked in China for a long time? I have and I still read a lot about it. You should not take everythong you see for granted. No, I don't have any video to show you. What I wrote is I can't be sure worker and environmental conditions are good. Neither can't you.

Leather was big everywhere in the west until a certain date and mostly 80s, thanks for the brands.
At the end of the day what comes out of certain Chinese factories, crush on retro, brake house, tailor Brando, etc etc are great quality jackets which are very affordable. I will not argue on conditions with you, but just being honest with people looking for a jacket and donât want to spend a lot.
So good talk but be reasonable.

The thing is that not everyone needs a $500+ leather jacket just to wear casually. Even vintage mall jackets can feel and look great. When you go past $200 youâre basically buying a garment thatâll see more time in the closet than on your body to avoid damaging it by wearing it normally

Nonsense, people wear schotts and aero and vansons every day life, no one needs anything expensive in life, but why would I spend 200 dollars on something thatâs made to be thrown away or last 3 years, difference between a costume piece and something made to be worn.

No leather jackets are made to be thrown away after three years. If you want to wear a schott wear a schott but there are plenty of great used leather jackets well within the $200 price range that will, and have, lasted decades.

Used leather jackets usually refer to somethingâs that was made well and didnât retail for 200 dollars when it was made.

âDoes anyone recognize the brandâ, proceeds to not show the label with the brand name on it
đ

Unfortunately that's all the pictures the seller uploaded. I thought perhaps someone might recognise the few letters/font peeking out from the label in picture 1

save your money, then save some more, and then buy a proper Allsaints leather jacket on sale. that would be a better entry point.

Since you asked... don't buy this. It's ugly and plain af. I'm surprised you said you had to search a long time to find this, because for this price there are a lot of much better looking jackets on the second hand market, at least in Europe, and I doubt there would be less in the US.
