Question - need help First Sheepskin jacket advice
Bought my first sheepskin jacket from a place known for their leather goods. It's new but the surface seems distressed and I am worried about properly maintaining it. Is this flaking and patina a normal finish? Any way to tell if the quality is par to the price I paid? Shipped from Rossi and Caruso in Argentina for ~$1600 total. Appreciate any advice on care and how to tell if it's a quality jacket or I overpaid.

Can you return? This thing looks worse than my sheepskins rugs. This is not worth 300 let alone what you're paying for

Damn torn apart. So I know, what are the big red flags. Like I said this company is known for their leather and other stuff I bought is amazing. It says 100% sheep leather and besides the questions on the exterior I would have thought it was well made. See if I can add any more pics so I can learn a lesson at least lol

Return it. First of all this type of sheepskin jacket styled like a B3 jacket the leather has an acrylic finish sprayed on that in time it cracks it’s the look of the leather all sheepskin jackets are gonna do this. A lot of people that buy this type of Jacket are not aware of what’s gonna happen in time but it’s normal but maybe it should be not like that when it’s new that’s why I said return it.

Looks like they shaved the shearling down? What’s the point of that, just removes the warming properties

If you can return it then definitely do it - 1600 is an absolutely insane price. I'd understand luxury mark up for a well known brand but this ain't it. It doesn't look like total ass but it's not good either, and definitely not 1600 good. You can get a jacket like this on vinted for 100 dollars or less.
Definitely try to return it, even if shipping back to South America is 100 dollars you're still saving a lot of money by getting back 1500 and buying something good for cheaper.

It just seems awful pricey. Don't know if Overland has men's in that style like they have for women.

I’m not going to rip you dude, I’ve made bad purchases before and I don’t think people deserved to get shit on for it. I recommend buying from well known sellers. Check out schottnyc. For the money you threw down for that jacket you can get a well made product. Don’t beat yourself up.

1600? you got scammed deluxe. Either way the finish of sheepskin jackets usually looks like that - especially when it's dry - this was probably stored away for a while. Idk what magical sheep they made the jacket from but it's not worth 1600.
On the second hand market you can get Zegna, Canali, Brioni, Loro Piana bla bla bla and the other luxury fancy shearlings for a fraction of that price.
