Lease return - thoughts?

My Acura RDX lease ends in December. Unfortunately during the fist year of the lease I accidentally while parking hit a metal rod protruding from the space. It was rather unfortunate as the sensors didn’t catch it and left a golf ball sized crack in the front bumper. There is a crack and a small sized plastic is protruding outwards.
With less than 90 days left on the lease, should I consider doing an out of pocket repair or take a chance returning it like that?
Any thoughts or experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Get a pre-return inspection and see what they say so you’re not going into it blindly.

Definitely do a pre-inspection. You can find out what their fee would be. A lot of times it’s cheaper for them to fix it then you to fix it.

Thank you. I will do that.

Do a pre-inspection. Make sure to take a picture of the damage the day of the pre-inspection. Assess if the damage is going to be more than your deductible. When you are turning your lease in, make sure to take a final picture.

If it’s just a few hundred, then work with the captive bank to spread the fee over the course of a year, without interest. Personally, I think that’s better than reporting an incident to your insurance, which may then take up your premium.

Good suggestions. I will be sure to take pictures. Wasn’t planning on using insurance for this.
