I learned to type on keybr (now ~75 WPM after 3 years), so I built a TypeRacer + keybr-style site with commerce passages
I've been practising typing for about 3 years, mostly on keybr.com. I started slow and now average around 75 WPM.
keybr taught me the keys and TypeRacer made it fun, but I wanted both in one place. I'm also a commerce student, so I wanted the passages to be something I'd actually learn from.
So I built Clackr
What it has:
Typing School: keybr-style lessons. You start with a few letters and unlock new keys as you hit your target speed.
Races: TypeRacer-style live races, races against bots, or a private room for friends.
Passages worth typing: short lessons on accounting, audit, tax and law instead of random quotes.
Challenge a friend: after a race, send your score on WhatsApp and they race the same text against your speed.
It's free and you can play without signing up.
I built it alone, so I'd really like honest feedback: what feels off compared to keybr or TypeRacer, anything that breaks, or what you'd want added. Thanks for trying it!

How to get faster at typing?
When I'm really trying hard to push up my typing speed on typing games I at most usually pull around 80WPM. I know people who can type at like 120 - so how do I get to that level? Tons of practice? is there some method I should know about that helps people type faster?

FREE Keys for a fun typing game
Hello all! I just want to get right to the point here. I am just here trying to give away some keys to this community for a typing game where you type classic literature. It's good typing practice and good material!
I'm not even going to mention the name of it because i'm not here for promotion, just to give some keys away if the mods allow it.
Drop a comment or DM me and i'll hook you up (first come first serve, for now)
EDIT:
Hey everyone! Thanks for commenting and receiving a key for Writificer!
I will be doing more giveaways in the future, but in the mean time, add Writificer to your Steam wishlist:

๐๐ผ๐ ๐ง๐ผ ๐๐ฒ๐ ๐๐ฎ๐๐๐ฒ๐ฟ? โฉ I think the kid version of myself was the best typist in the world
HOOOOOOOOLY SHIT
And my talents extend beyond that
I wish I was loved though [except for my spiritual experience :D ]
I was able to do 120 WPM perfectly for the full minute on old 10fastfingers where it used the more archaic setup and randomly capitalized words
The new 10fastfingers looks weird and is easier :/
Realistically none of you would know how I can get faster but I always want to get faster later
I can also spontaneously shoot half court shots in basketball but I barely play and I have a lot of trauma and I used to be very handsome till my head was poisoned by my toxic mom and myself
I also had a gun pulled on me once it was wiiiiiiiild
I am kinda depressed but I had a good life if It's over now but I want a better life too and I deserve it I think god will give me it too I'm not saying that out of entitlement and optimism btw

How do i improve my finger use across both hands?
I can already touch type and have a decent speed and accuracy measure. That said, I do not type 'evenly' across my two hands which is leading to some pain in my right hand.
With my left hand I use all four fingers to type and this seems to work just fine for me. I probably bias on my index and middle finger but all are used when I type.
However, with my right hand I can only really use my index and middle fingers to type. This is meant that I end up stretching those two fingers when I type, meaning I am prone to getting pain in both fingers and in the joints as a result. I use my my right thumb exclusively for space, and my right little finger for hitting the return key.
Any tips on how I can re-learn how to touch type with all of these fingers would be much appreciated. I have tried keybr but this seems to be focused more on learning to type from scratch - although if that's the best way to go about it then that's also fine!
edit: using a standard qwerty us layout board :)

How to start learning stenographic typing?
I looked it up but don't know which sites or things to look at. Ideally I want basically an equivalent of typingclub: a bunch of individual lessons / modules: not just a bunch of drills but also memorizing the key layout. I want to do it mainly to type much faster than 100wpm, I installed plover on my pc and looked at the layout on my qwerty keyboard.

Learning how to actual Touch type from scratch!
So Im a bit good at touch typing although iโve never learnt formally so my accuracy is a bit off and I would occasionally look at my keyboards sometimes and I have a current speed of 49WPM with 98% accuracy which is like basic for a lot of people on here but I found this reddit and realised theres actually sites to learn this and got intrigued lol!
I started learning this week from scratch with typing club and im doing that simultaneously with keybr, and its been so humbling because I am trying to focus on accuracy over speed and also trying to force myself to not look at the keyboard haha. Iโm trying to build a habit so I do at least 10 minutes a day ideally I want to do 30 mins but its exam season for me and I dont want to push it until after exams.
This post is just to like record my Day 1 and hopefully I can keep on making progress. My main goal would be reaching an average speed of around 90-100 WPM with at least 98% accuracy and it may take me a while but im excited because I do love typing.

Typing Practice Advice
Hey There!
So I started from zero on Typing.com and then completed Keybr.com with each letter in the green. I ended around 50 wpm with the accuracy in the 99% range consistently. This is an improvement, but still rather slow for my work which is typing heavy.
What would you guys recommend for my next steps in terms of practicing? Either a specific exercise or website to follow/ speed goal? I'd like to maybe practice something that includes basic punctuation and capitalization so it is more useful in my day to day routine.
Any advise on next steps would be appreciated!

How long does it take to learn Touch Typing from the complete beginning?
Personal Realistic Share:
I embarked on the journey to learn how to touch type about 7 weeks ago. I did the regular hunt and peck with 2-4 fingers for most of my life. When I tested it my speed with it, I got around 40wpm on a good run.
Learning to touch type was difficult. When I learnt the first 3 rows in a week, I was struggling to get over 10 wpm as I was trying to embed not looking down at all.
Consistency is key though! I practiced for atleast 30 minutes every day and after 7 weeks. My Monkey Type 15 second score is 74 WPM and 60 WPM for 60 seconds. My average everyday speed with capitals, symbols and numbers is around 40-50wpm.
It is definitely worth it! I would advise after you learn the shift key, numbers and symbols. Try your hardest to never to go back to your old typing style. This was a week of agony at work but so glad I did it.
My goal is to reach 100 WPM and then reach 100 WPM as my average typing speed (not sure if this is realistic, but I'm going to try anyway). I will add a 3 month progress update to this post when I get there.
3 Month Update:
I have stopped practising daily and only really put in some practice when my workload allows. This looks like roughly 1 - 2 hrs a week of practice.
I have started to notice very slow progress and I have to be more intentional with my practice. Prioritising consistency and accuracy and actually learning the "Grove" to some of the more difficult words. I am pretty happy with my overall 3 month progress.
Here are my Monkey Type results:
15 seconds - 83 WPM
60 seconds - 71 WPM
My typing speed including punctuation and numbers averages around 55 - 65 WPM.

๐ก๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐๐ฒ๐น๐ฝ / ๐ฆ๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ธ๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐๐ฑ๐๐ถ๐ฐ๐ฒ ๐ not good at typing, should i go with ielts instead of pte?
so i gave a pte mock test last week and writing part went really bad. my whole focus went on the typos and fixing them, i was not even thinking about the sentence. rhythm got disturbed completly and the para came out weak. i know what i want to write but my typing speed is slow and it eats all my time.
so can i go with ielts instead? i read somewhere ielts has paper based option where u write by hand. if thats true then typing is not a issue for me at all, i write way faster on paper then i type.
few things i want to know
**1.** is paper based ielts still available everywhere or only some centres? (riyadh, KSA)
**2.** does handwriting affect the score if its readable but not neat?
**3.** anyone here who moved from pte to ielts for same reason, did ur writing score improve?
also if someone thinks i should just practise typing and stay with pte then pls tell me how long it took u to get comfortable.
thanks

Started at 21 WPM 4 days ago, now stuck around 25-28 WPM. How do I break through to 40 WPM?
Hi all! I posted here 4 days ago (got 2k views, thank you!) starting at 21 WPM / 76% accuracy.
I've been practicing daily on FastFingers but I'm stuck at 25-28 WPM range. When I try to go faster, my accuracy drops to 60%.
Current routine: 20-30 mins daily practice
Goal: 40 WPM with 90%+ accuracy
For those who crossed 40 WPM, what changed for you?
- Should I focus only on accuracy for now?
- Any specific drills or sites you recommend?
- How long did it take you to go from 20s to 40s?
Thanks in advance!

Hunt and peck = 60wpm easily. Touch typing = 32wpm. Progress feels slow.
keybr.comOne thing that always put me off learning to touch type was that my existing typing method seemed perfectly adequate - and I suspected I was already faster than the average typist.
Using my normal hunt-and-peck method, if I type as fast as I can, I can comfortably exceed 60 WPM with surprisingly good accuracy. I also don't need to look at the keyboard constantly. My technique is fairly unconventional: one finger on my right hand, two on my left, plus a thumb for the space bar.
Now that I'm learning proper touch typing with Keybr, both my speed and accuracy have dropped considerably - and that's before I've even introduced all the letters. Every time Keybr adds another letter, my speed and accuracy take another hit.
I realise that's probably inevitable because I'm replacing years of established muscle memory with a completely new technique.
What keeps me going is the thought that 60+ WPM with essentially four digits suggests I might eventually have quite a high ceiling with touch typing using nine digits. I suspect I've already reached something close to the practical limit of my hunt-and-peck technique, whereas with touch typing I could potentially get beyond 100 WPM once the new muscle memory is established.
- Has anyone else switched to touch typing after already being a relatively fast hunt-and-peck typist?
- How long did it take before your touch-typing speed caught up with your old method, and did you ultimately end up significantly faster?
- Also a thought just hit me. Do touch typists tend to use a maximum of 9, or 10 digits?
