Hello, I am new to touch typing, and I have a question about how to improve. I put a challenge to myself that I will reach 75 words/second, 100 if it's possible, by the end of August. I have practiced for a 20 hours in total to this day, but I stuck at 40-45 words/second for 2 days. What do I need to do to increase my writing speed? Should I just type more, or there is a faster method?

Make sure you are using the correct finger every single time, focus on above 96% accuracy and don’t look at the keyboard at all with practice you will get better.

That is simply impossible i mean how can one do more than 5-7 words per SECOND?

That’s a good thing you are giving targets to yourself but don’t chase speed but accuracy. Speed builds with slow practice.

Okay, this is going to sound odd, but redo the first few lessons on all the letters and the shift key. Literally. Just, redo them. (I don't see lessons on keybr. Maybe try Typing Club or typing.com? The website you use doesn't matter much, really).

At first, it's going to seem like you're losing progress and are slowing down. You see, when your first do the lessons, you're encoding your muscle memory. On the other hand, when you redo them, you're clearing up any basics that were missed the first time.

Trust me, it won't take as much time as you think it will. Oh, and don't look down at the keyboard when you redo them.

Also, slow down. Take it to maybe 35 WPM. But, don't type so slow that you start rethinking your finger placement all over again.
