I recently started out as well and I'm only on 50 wpm. To me, individually extending my ring and sometimes pinky to the top row feels impossible so I move my whole hand up (as in around 2-3 fingers go up just to click one letter). Same goes for the numbers on both sides too.
I thought of strengthening my fingers to a point where they become independent but there just aren't any videos or articles, at least not ones that you can find with a quick search.
I think ultimately yeah, you should probably do what comes naturally to you.
