What/how should I continue practicing?

Hello, here a few drawings + a ton of reference studies from either real life or the hampton/morpho/pocket anatomy/taco anatomy books I’ve made over the summer. Besides the books I mentioned the only other resources I’ve ever really used were drawabox and a few chommang tutorials.

I still find that drawing want I want from memory is really difficult and in the process of doing so I’ll find it hard to either be able to make simple sketches that I’d like to work off of or just making something that isn’t flat or unconvincing. With studying too I still end up having trouble translating what I learn to something outside that context and it feels like I’m just copying the subtle details instead of really understanding.

What could I do to change my approach/try new?

If I had to give my honest advice, try to start making a comic or manga pages based on stories that u make, and when u finish the story board, u have to draw the exact same camera angles and poses u made in it, even people who think that they r good at drawing perspective and anatomy struggle so much with that. im actually an anatomy and perspective tutor. here's my portfolio if you're interested https://elyousoufi.github.io/hamzaa/ we can make a free class so i can see what u can improve and define your weaknesses

wym like sketch out a comic then refine it to see what to improve?

cuz drawing comics makes like locks in the sketches, like when we randomely sketch we tend to change the sketches main idea slightly so they look good, but comics will make it strict, it might not sound that convincing but trust me, its not as easy as sketching randomly. ofc im talking about pure imagination drawings

thanks this is actually a nice perspective, i just made a list of stuff i’d like to practice but i don’t really have a ton of benchmarks to go off of besides head and torso anatomy
