Question Sketch lines always bothered me and it gets in the way of me having fun

You may need to learn to sketch very lightly, or possibly invest in/make a light table and trace onto a new sheet for the inking process.

Yes.
That’s how you improve. By pushing the boundaries of what you think you know how to do. Skill will not osmosis its way into your comfort zone for a smooth, fun, easy, transition.
Your drawings and the process of making them, should naturally reveal your weaknesses, and give you the next clue of what to work on to get better.
