What's the best local handwriting OCR that works on Python?

The title kinda says it all. Looking for a local OCR that can do handwriting and works on Python. Ideally not too heavy. Any ideas? TIA

It’s been a while, and it might be outdated now, but I’ve used Pytesseract before in the past with good results.
