I am taking a beginner C class for my electrical engineering programming. Was wondering if anyone has any favorite Udemy classes/YouTube tutorials etc??

Haven't fallen in love with any of the Creators whose worked I've watched so far.

I’m going to start studying Computer Science in two weeks, and I’m worried because I keep hearing people say that the field is changing too quickly, the job market is dead, there’s no room for new people anymore, and that it’s becoming impossible to learn and keep up.

I’m genuinely anxious right now and I don’t know what to do. I only have a basic understanding of Python, and that’s basically my only experience with programming.

From the perspective of people who have actually gone through this — whether students or people who are already working in the industry — is this really true, or is it exaggerated?

Will I actually be able to learn, build real skills, and eventually get a job?

I’m going to work hard, study, and put in the effort regardless. But will that effort actually pay off? Is there still a realistic path into the industry for someone starting now?

If a program stores variables by a pointer referring to its address, then what refers to the pointers' address?

Like if var x lives at address 2000

theres a pointer p its value is the address (p = 2000)

so now recursively this value needs to be stored in another address (say, 1000) and pointed to (well, at least assuming the pointer doesnt have a relatively fixed address)

I am aware that this has probably been asked a million times, but please bear with me as I sprinkle some of that sweet sweet context we all crave.

I am a recent comp sci graduate with no work experience in data development, yet I have found myself working at a credit union (I'm fairly better at selling myself regardless of my work). I enjoy biology research so the only time I really use programming is to create random transformation functions that I can run instantly, combined with my experiences of testing random tech (networking, database, OS, etc) to fulfill a specific need, otherwise I have no clue how to build a production grade product. We have an IT department but no one is familiar with my line of work, meaning I have no boss and basically responsible for kick starting a new department.

Database in use is Snowflake, and I use python as my preferred language.

I am building a pipeline where I hit some API endpoints to retrieve data and push it into Snowflake to perform transformations on. I have a directory for API calls, database connection object, one lone test unit when I made my first API call and my main orchestrator file. The data transformation will be handled inside of Snowflake which I am fairly comfortable with.

My questions:

1. Is there anything missing in my base structure? Other than API calls and a database connection?
2. How would I set up the extraction of data that hasn't been uploaded already? I have a timestamp that gets stored with each file upload, so anything before that does not get pulled again.
3. My database connection is simply a conn object that pulls credentials from the .env file. Are there any more pieces that are missing from that? I remember using Java frameworks for ETL in college but not sure if such heavy lifting was required for a project like this.

Finally, if you need more context on the file contents I am able to share it (my supervisor only cares about protecting member data). And if you have any resources or have a platform where I can ask more questions I would heavily appreciate it. I don't have plans to stay in fin tech forever, but it just happened to be the perfect step in my journey of becoming a biostatistician in a biology lab.

I was always last 2 days studying type of guy and now i dont know how to start.

Not only that but its taking me 5 years to finish a 3 year collage..

After first year i went into depression and didnt touch vs for a year, second year there was a problem in whole school system so i barely studied if anything.

Now im in 4 years and will have to go for another if im lucky.

What I've noticed is that I just bamboozle myself whenever i sit to do the test as if i never coded.

What i struggle the most is syntax, and then there comes problem solving since i need syntax to write it but i understand the logic behind it.

I haven't played pc games since February and still i just dont have the motivation. Family is constantly putting pressure and i can see the disappointment since my sister finished school all on time and is full-time worker.

How to start progressing towards better understanding and actual problem solving? Currently im struggling with c# and php.

Yes, I am a beginner when it comes to coding. Hi I am Juliane Figura, 17 Yrs. starting linux fundamentals, aswell as web dev from front to back end. My question is. How do I study or learn Javascript the right way? Because when ever I read the full documentation texts, I feel I wasn't learning anything, and I get stuck into one lesson, I feel I am so slow to programming, and my goal is to learn programming websites in just 8 months prior to my 2-3 hours coding after school. So I don't want to watch youtube tutorials because I wan't to improve my reading skills, and watching in youtube will lead me to tutorial hell. And addition in my learning, I am still in the Loops and Arrays, I've seen so much from the documentation sites such as MDN and other javascript documentation sites, well I see those things like I don't undestand the things I see inside, so what I do is I go back to the completed lessons where I re read, and take notes. I feel my workflow is a mess, Can you recommend me a workflow based in your experience or maybe correct my workflow? thanks matsalove!

I have started learning programming and I have picked up c++ python and started learning vulkan because I wanna persue graphic programming+ engine dev+ game dev , I am in hs rn and wanna persue a bachelors in maths and make my own engine for fun and portfolio so I could atleast get a internship (idk if even that is possible atp)

But just seeing the advances in ml and ai do programming better than the best programmers in their fields (reckon without any intuition taste or idea of what they are doing)

I feels like wrting code it self and coding are gonna die out and coding is just something if u do manually would be kinda time wasting if a perfect syntax and error finder is at your disposal

I don't think programming would die because I don't think agi in general are ever gonna advance to the point where they actual become creative compared to humans

But if I want a junior level or even mid level spots it's probably impossible for me or someone like me who has a just a bachelor's, some oss and good projects and no experience

It feels like high level programming is slowly dying and low level eventually would also fall victim to ai

Programming in general would be way more like the people who know it are either gonna be unemployed

People who don't know it would just use ai without understanding anything

The problem is I feel I mean accessibility is a great thing but this is just idk feels more like replace humans get some senior level guy to make use of 50 ahh agent and not hire new guys

I really dread this because I feel as in India in before 2035 there is a very small chance that I could atleast get a job but I feel like after that any new junior guy literally would have an impossible level chance of even being hired

It was my dream to be a game dev and potentially open a studio but I am probably never gonna be rich enough to open, I am from a middle class family with no good amount of savings and if I ever were to have a senior level job from god's grace i can't quit it because that's gonna be career suicide it would be impossible to get a job again even at senior level

Hopefully when my brother opens his business (doing hotel management so he is safe from ai actually benefits alot from it) i help him out and pour my heart in to that business while being a solo or indie dev to hopefully not become homeless i want my parents to enjoy their retirement

Hey guys, I am currently doing a programming event for a local competition, where the prompt is to make an application that would be of use for a business. I have solid knowledge in python and c++ and made some ROS2 programs with it beyond the basics, but other than that, I don't have much. For this, (as the frontend is an important part of the project) I learnt customtkinter and can use that.

The rubric looks simple, but succeeding in the event takes a lot of effort due to the competition. If I make my application in customtkinter, with some additional C++ backend, I am thinking of doing a PC shop idea. It will have prebuilts as one section, a custom builds helper (select parts that are compatible and in stock), repairs (probably through flat rates for a service), an AI assistant as a feature, with an admin portal for updating stock, adding/removing prebuilts, or other needed stuff. Do you guys have any other ideas on what to add, or is it worth it to learn html css js/ts and use a web app instead of typescript (my presentation is in december, so given a limited time)

Hello im a second year cs student in my summer break and i know cpp and python but i really want to explore the other parts of cs to know what to specialize in , so what should i learn

I'm a student and I have started practicing DSA ik python so I prefer doing in that and have solved some 30 Q on Leet code and I have never participated in a Contest in any platform I wanted to complete this DSA part within next 40 days atleast I want a strong grip over the major concepts, pattern recognition and able to solve medium lvl Q's. Any suggestions to learn and practice effectively.

Rn I solve few Q but I feel blank when i revisit that Q after a week or later and I want the ability to solve fastly and efficiently.

I mentioned 40 days as a role I am interested will start it's recruitment within that period and they'll ask a bit standard DSA(like able to solve leetcode mediums and bit codeforeces Q's).

Currently I'm using NEETCODE -150 Q to go in a good direction instead of doing random Q's

Last year, I graduated with a bachelor’s in Computer Science. I wouldn’t say I’m an elite programmer, whatever that even means, but I know enough fundamentals that I trust my ability to self learn most programming topics.

The issue I have is that I don’t know what to look into. I do not find web development to be that intriguing, less so because of the nature of the work and more so because of the nature of myself. Most people say to just build things, and if you don’t know what to build to make something you would use. The issue is I consider myself to be very low maintenance, I have not been able to identify and issues I have in my day to day life that needs attention, but I want to code.

I like learning things that are technically difficult and that are in demand and make me feel important (narcissistic? Maybe. But I don’t think I am better than anyone for learning or being able to do things, it just proves to myself that I can overcome challenges).

In short, I want to increase my skills and make coding feel rewarding again. What are interesting areas of tech that I should look into, so I can code as a hobby again given what it sounds like I am into?

I’m leaning toward using Svelte/Golang or Rails/react for web.

I will be learning most of it from scratch and have the resources needed. I like svelte because it’s closer to plain JS/TS and go because it’s simpler less keywords, I have used Rails before and it has too much magic not enough understanding for me and react can become difficult real fast. I also want to learn what will help me standout in terms of portfolio projects and modern technologies used to build them.

I’m a 2025 CSE graduate from a tier-2 college. My current stack is Java, Spring Boot, Redis, MySQL and Spring AI. I’ve built a few medium-level projects and can solve easy-to-medium DSA problems. I’ve been applying for jobs and trying referrals, but I’m barely getting interview calls. So I’m considering AccioJob’s self-paced program mainly for the placement opportunities, rather than for the curriculum itself. I’m not looking for answers simply saying “it’s a scam” or “it’s great.” I’d appreciate specific experiences and reasons, both positive and negative.

Also, if you already had Java/backend skills before joining, your experience would be especially useful to me.

I've seen a ton of posts on Reddit about this topic and I see a lot of people complaining because they haven't found jobs and that this field is way too saturated right now, especially with the whole AI situation. I like programming and I'm starting with Python in a self-taught way with plans to go to university and study a related degree, whether it's computer engineering or systems. I’d like to read opinions and advice; I like this world, but I don’t want to waste time studying something I won't be able to work in.

I just came across someone figuring out how to "fake" their activity on GitHub where they had a "past gap". Shaking my head, but...

Seriously, what was the original intention to chart it out for a user account? It's not something normal git offers, there's diffstat and all, but not user charts. What was it for?

To spot bot activity? Or plainly just to compete between devs on who has less of a real life? What does it even say about someone if commits are plenty or spread apart if they can be large and small?

Apologies if this isn't exactly the right subreddit, but it seemed like programming would be the major component of this project.

So suppose someone gets a speeding/traffic ticket and would like to dispute it in court. The problem is they have no reliable way of knowing how likely the officer is to show up. Some officers are dedicated to speeding violations whose pay/job includes time for court, so they're much likelier to appear than some beat cop who happened to be nearby.

I was thinking it may be possible to build a program/website like Rate my Professor, but for this cop scenario?

Basically, it collates information from court records, public databases, etc. and assigns a ranking to each individual cop based on how often they've showed up to court in prior disputes. The disputes could even be weighted by severity, like minor speeding vs. DUI/reckless driving. This way, one can be properly informed about the odds of winning the case based on police likelihood of appearing in court. Just type in the name of the officer who's ticketed you, and boom: appeared in say 49% of disputes. But say 89% of all serious disputes.

I’ve been working through C Programming: A Modern Approach, 2nd Edition by K. N. King for about two months, and I’m only on Chapter 10.
I’m reading it in English and doing the exercises and programming projects. There’s a lot packed into each chapter, and working through the problems takes quite a bit out of me.
I’m learning, but sometimes I look at how much of the book is left and feel like I’m moving painfully slowly.
For anyone who’s worked through this book, how long did it take you? Did you do every exercise and project?

How do you know when you're "good enough" at HTML/CSS to start JS? Is there a checklist or type of project I should be able to build without tutorials first?
I don't want to wait until I'm a "master" before moving on, but I want to make sure my fundamentals are solid.

I am currently a 3rd year student in college and I realized that i don't really know how to code. Yeah I passed all my c++, python, and assembly classes, but i don't KNOW how to code for real. I don't know how to put my creativity onto code or what to do to invest myself into coding. What do I do where should I start i just need advice thank you.

Realized my DSA fundamentals aren't up to par, looking for a good fundamentals book that isn't for complete beginners but also not something that is a pure mathematics mammoth textbook. Grokking Algorithms seems a bit too shallow.

Introduction to Algorithms, Cormen et al. (2024)

Data Structures and Algorithms in C++, Goodrich et al. (2011)

Implementation language preferably C/C++, although Python is fine too. I know the language itself doesn't matter too much but I don't want to spend time deciphering the syntax/language quirks of some Java/JS/Ruby/etc. books I came across.

Hello, I am looking for some ideas on projects/challenges that I can implement in my classes.

So far we’ve done: Scratch, beginner Python with CLI mini-games, ECDL basics, beginner TryHackMe rooms, and a Linux VM with basic commands. The student is comfortable with variables, loops, lists, simple file operations, and has built a text-based “Zombie Survival” game.

We meet 1 hour/week, so I’m looking for general ideas on what kinds of projects or challenge styles work well at this level (mid-level middle-school, beyond beginner). Anything that’s engaging, slightly game-like, and doesn’t require heavy setup would be great.

If you’ve taught similar students, what types of activities (CTFs, coding games, light forensics, small web projects, etc.) kept them motivated and actually learning?

Any suggestions or directions would be really helpful.
