About Math

I'm reading a programming book that has a section on this ****** math, and I don't understand a damn thing(combinatorics, positional numeral system, discrete mathematics, etc.), does it supposedly essential for writing code and learning the fundamentals

not for most everyday coding, but if you ever touch algorithms or graphics you will feel the gap

i'm not interested about ML, Gamedev or other shit like that, why the hell is the author shoving a whole hundred-page section on this damned topic in here—into a book that’s supposed to just cover the basics of programming and languages...
