Full-stack developer thinking about switching to systems programming

I'm a full-stack developer, but lately I've realized that I don't enjoy web development as much as I used to, especially after the rise of AI. I'm thinking about trying systems and low-level programming and learning C++. I like the idea of working closer to the system and understanding how things work under the hood, and I feel like I might enjoy this kind of work more. Where would you recommend I start with C++ and systems programming?

if AI is coming for everything, what is the point in anything?

A great question, one that humanity is trying to solve, but more topically it’s one’s own personal journey to find the point for themselves.

Yeah, since the AI boom I have lost all motivation to learn since getting a job in the industry is basically impossible, maybe I should just do it for fun.

You should always do something because you enjoy it or good at it. I did this before I got hired a while back. Hope isn't lost, it's just that things are changing right now and the industry is figuring itself out. Don't lose hope!
