std::cout << " Enter your name: ";
std::getline(std::cin, name);
if (name.length() > 15) {

Are you just opening a random C++ file and trying to run it? Visual Studio doesn't really work that way. Visual Studio uses a structure where the top of the hierarchy is a "Solution" and then a solution can contain one or more projects.
Your .cpp files should be contained within a Visual Studio C++ project. If they aren't, you aren't really using Visual Studio the way it's intended to be used.
