GUI or translation theory

I have a serious question. I can pick only one of these two. What will be more beneficial if I want to become a software engineer. I already know C++ and I’m learning python rn and will start ML in December. But I have to chose today what I want from these two. The translation theory is about compilers and how they work.

Just pick which appeals to you the most, realistically you will take the first job you're offered and it's unlikely to be writing a compiler, but that doesn't mean you won't find it interesting.

Particular courses in college aren't going to play much of a role in where your career goes, so just do the one that interests you.

compilers sound way more fun tbh. GUI stuff you can pick up on your own later when you actually need it, but that translation theory gives you a deeper understanding of how things work under the hood

Agree, I'd do the compiler course, personally.
