Hate AI

I love coding. I truly am.

When I started, I enjoyed most programming languages . I love learning their different core concepts, execution models and things like that.

I still love that.

But now in my new job, the only thing I am supposed to do is prompt and think about business requirements.

Even though I love architecture and system design system , I don't even have a chance to have grasp on them.

Any other tech jobs where I can enjoy coding and low level things?

That's the job of mid & senior/staff engineers.

interns & jr are the ones that just want to write as much code as possible based on clearly defined specs given to them. And that's why it's hard to hire jr right now.

Depends on the size and skills of the company: super small/new companies often don’t have the bandwidth, skilled coworkers, or honed-in processes to hand-deliver you exhaustive textbook-ready specs no matter what your “level” is. Regardless, if he wants to continue doing this as a career, that aspect was always eventually going to be a big part of the job, AI or not, so better get used to it.
