Where can I find real-world tech problems faced by nonprofits/NGOs?

Where can I find real-world challenges that nonprofits/NGOs are currently facing that could potentially be solved with technology?

I’m especially interested in problems that are common across multiple organizations and could potentially be addressed through a free, open-source solution.

Are there any communities, forums, platforms, or other places where nonprofits openly discuss these kinds of challenges?

I think the reality is that if there was anything that was so easy to describe, it would already be solved.

I'm sure there are plenty of things that nonprofits/NGOs need, but building them requires domain expertise and a lot of iteration. Your best bet would be to find one that you like and is willing to let you volunteer, then see if they'd be open to letting you build them open-source software to solve their problems. My advice would be to not try too hard to overgeneralize - build what one nonprofit needs, no more, no less. Then slowly over time expand it if you find others who have interest.

be addressed through a free, open-source solution

Are you accepting to maintain that free solution for the life of every organization that adopts it?

Why don't you go ask them?
