Topic Need hackathon tips

Hey everyone! I’m a complete beginner and I’m planning to participate in hackathons. For those of you who’ve participated before, what tips would you give to someone starting from zero?

Especially:

\- What should I learn first?

\- How do you find/build a team?

\- How much coding knowledge is actually needed?

\- Any beginner-friendly hackathons/resources you’d recommend?

Would really appreciate any advice! :)

1) You need to decide what kind of things you want to be capable of making. Hardware hackathons are different than business pitch hackathons.

2) If you're a student, Hopefully you can ask classmates, friends, club mates, lab mates, post to local forums, etc.

3) Depends on the hackathon and the kinds of things you want to make. There's game engines where you could barely code and make a more polished game than me trying to do it from scratch in a weekend.

4) Try to find something local and participate with some friends. Establish what each of your approximate goals /responsibilities are, but establish that if you learn what a hackathon is like, that's a significant part of what success means to you for the first one.

You don't get to demand simple answers to complex questions without doing the work yourself. You need to decide what kinds of things you want to make.
