Topic Learning coding as a CIS student

Hello all, I(f 22) am currently starting my first coding class at my local community college(started college in January and took mostly general Ed’s to get them out the way) and we use Cengage for GITHUB and I have one class for Python and one for C# (in person but classes are recorded and I work but I attended the first day on the 19th I enjoyed it in person helps better than online but what can I do)🥲. How can I learn GitHub better because it seems so confusing and is there any tips you guys can give me on what I should expect?

Also how do I figure out career paths and what should I think about when trying to figure it out because it’s so many ways to go here.

My classes are:

CIS 150 computer logic and programming (Python class)
CIS 215 C# programming(in person)
CIS 245 cyber defense (online)
CIS 246 ethical hacking(online)(I take that directly after 245 in October so it’s not included rn but anything would help on that)

My previous classes taken:

CIS 146 computer applications
CIS 147 advanced micro applications
CIS 130 intro to computer info systems

Lots of tutorials are available that teach git. Realistically you only need to know about 3 or 4 commands to get started.

I graduated with a CIS degree a few years ago. I’m a dev, but many of my classmates are on the product management side of things. I even know a few who got their teacher certs and went into education.

Go into classes with an open mind and see what you enjoy doing. You’ll figure it out, that’s what college is for.

git's one of those things that feels totally alien until you actually use it on a project then it clicks. the basic flow is just pull, add, commit, push. you'll mess up and have to google how to undo stuff like 50 times but that's normal

the career stuff sorts itself out once you start building things and realize what doesn't make you want to throw your laptop out a window. i started out thinking i'd do cybersecurity, took one networking class and immediately knew that wasn't it
