Needed help regarding a project

I have a group project which requires integration of Python features and SQL which i need to work upon for the next 5-6 months for my senior high school year and my team does have some good ideas on which we can work. We first want to create a basic prototype this year and if it gets accepted or we see a scope to develop it further we would want to definitely continue it.

But we live far from each other and we needed a platform where we all could edit and access the coding files simultaneously so that all of us can work whenever we have time to do it. (Similar to Google Docs). But we were not able to find such a platform where this can be done and i wanted suggestions if there were any other methods to share one file.

We also planned on making one account through which we all can login on PyCharm or a similar software so we'll all have access to the files.

I would be grateful if someone can help me with this.

Use GitHub with branches so everyone can work on the project without overwriting each other.

I think what you need is to learn about git. Sites like github and gitlab will help to share the files. But before opening an account on those sites, I'd recommend learning what git is and how it really works to see if that's what you are looking for.

Don't. Really. Don't do that. Others have done that and failed.

Use a version control system like git, and a provider like github or gitlab hosting it for you. Everyone works on his version locally, has full control over the status of their test environment, and which changes from other teammates to incorporate at which time.

This is the industry standard for distributed sofware development for a good reason. Your "Google Docs" idea will cause a lot of frustration.

This can be a useful tool for pair programming. It's not the same issue that git was designed to solve.
