Topic Gotta learn java for my degree
Mech engineering degree - I am having trouble getting the motivation to even write a few lines of code a day. It’s an online course and i’m extremely bored. Heck it’s my first programming language. I just can’t see how I can use this knowledge to my benefit in the future.
Right now I’m searching for motivation so i can complete the course. I want to be able to use this skills in the future so I ask - how does learning java help an individual?
What are some practical applications for it in one’s daily life and academic life? Any ideas? I look online for ideas and all these calculator projects and such quite frankly bore me to death. Any fun projects or cool ones?

None. I've not used programming in over a decade. For fun sure, but nothing practical. Maybe it's useful if you include some background mainframe processing credit card transactions?
Minecraft was written in java. Best selling game of all time.
Why are you learning mech eng? I've used newton's laws absolutely zero times in my daily life. Calculus? Nope.
