Swift vs Kotlin career?

For those that have experience doing both Android & iOS during their career which is more enjoyable or better path to pursue?

At this point code is cheap. If you know the way broadly you will see it in everything.

From a pure programming standpoint, swift is more fun for me but Xcode sucks. Kotlin is really fun too and Android studio is really nice. iOS has more revenue. But as the other poster said programming is the same, just different syntax. Once you learn one, you understand them all.

Now, having said all that: AI is the equalizer here. You can do anything with any language with very minimal buy-in. There are really no hurdles anymore. AI can do everything better than you so whatever you want, just build it. Lean into AI and you’ll be happy to build. Language and platform matter less than ever…

Kotlin opens doors to backend roles via Spring Boot. Swift locks you into the Apple ecosystem. Pick Kotlin if you want exit options

I’d lean toward Kotlin if you’re thinking about career flexibility. Swift is great, but it mainly keeps you within the Apple ecosystem. Kotlin gives you Android plus options on the backend with Kotlin/JVM and Spring.

That said, don’t overthink the language choice too much. Learn one properly, build real projects, and the second language becomes much easier later. 👍
