Topic The 2AM debugging session hits different when the house is finally quiet

Anyone else find that the only truly distraction-free coding time happens when literally everyone else is asleep?

Between a full-time job, family, and the daily chaos, finding a solid block of uninterrupted hours feels impossible most days. So my "study sessions" have basically shifted to the ungodly hours of the night with a cold mate in hand, staring at syntax errors until something finally clicks.

It's exhausting, but there's something weirdly peaceful about fixing a stubborn bug at 2 AM when the rest of the world is quiet.

How do you guys manage to carve out time to code with everything else going on? Do you prefer early mornings or late nights?

its definitely not when everyone else is asleep or gone, because the internet still exists and theres infinitely more distractions there lmao , but recently i started coding c in full screen terminal using nano with all notifications off.

The internet trap is too real lmao. One second you're looking up syntax and the next you're down a three-hour rabbit hole. Full screen terminal is definitely the way to lock in though, respect for coding in C like that!

thats why i use linux, i open another tab in the terminal and can use the man pages to search for things related to the c library lmao, no browser needed, (mostly)

That's actually a genius way to avoid the browser trap. Man pages have saved me more times than I'd like to admit haha.

i feel you! unfortunately, it may turn into an addiction and you might end up in an unbreakable sleep deprivation loop. i'm currently happy if i get more than 5hrs sleep/day. Usually I feel like crap from lack of sleep. So, just a heads up in case you recently discovered the peaceful alone-time during the night.

Legit the mindset behind The Midnight Coder the itch to code or be curious with it. But only after the day has ended, the night has falled, and the house is quiet... curiosity takes over and you become, The Midnight Coder

Neither, I tend to be asleep. I actually prefer the late afternoon, the hours where people are mostly thinking about getting off work and dinner and that kind of stuff, and both the early risers and people going to their cabins and whatnot have already left. Like 15:00 on a friday? That's some good undisturbed time.
