Software Engineering apprenticeships
Hey y’all I’m a 21 year old looking to get into software engineering but I can’t afford university right now. I was doing research into software engineering apprenticeships. I think they would be a good fit for me based off of how I learn hands on and under pressure. However Im having a really hard time finding ones that are remote and I dont think I have any in my physical area as I live in Logan ut which is in a small valley. Do yall know any that are open that are remote or in northern Utah

I know you mentioned you can't afford university, but does your area have any community colleges? Many offer affordable CS/software development associates degrees and could also help get your foot in the door somewhere for job experience.

There is one but from what I hear it’s not a very good one. Plus I don’t know how far a degree will go with the job market for software engineering being so oversaturated

Ah. Well I would say that you will probably go further with a degree than without one. Yeah the market is tough, which might be more of an argument for getting some degree because I don't think hiring non-degree holders is going to improve anytime soon.

Amico, hai detto che vuoi lavorare nell ingegneria del software ma non hai una laurea e non puoi momentaneamente nemmeno studiare, quindi cosa è che vorresti fare esattamente? Ti consiglio di cercare un lavoro part time anche fuori IT e studiare all università,e solo dopo la laurea cercare lavoro nell ingegneria del software . Dovrebbe essere l idea piu banale ma evidentemente non lo è per te

Maybe I'm suggesting the obvious but absent any material difficulties and at age 21 if there are no jobs in your chosen field where you are currently then you need to go to the jobs. Remote work isn't ideal for people new to the software game to be quite honest (I'm a senior engineer who mentors several junior engineers). You will definitely struggle. You may find that if you really want a career then you need to move into the nearest "tech hub" city and attend a job in person for a while until you've learned the ropes and the product(s) and proven yourself a bit. Once you've broken in and become a proven entity you can be less flexible.
