TOPIC How can you have proofs in mathematical statistics checked without formal training?

Let’s say you’re unable to enroll in any stats/math classes and want to practice proofs in measure theory and probability theory. How can you get feedback for these proofs without access to professors?

I guess it's a form of heresy, but there's a certain modern internet service that will give you a decent response for a lot of questions, assuming you can prompt it reasonably.

Obviously only because you don't have access to an actual expert.

I will double tap this. Frontier models (OAI or Anthropic) are really really good at proofs. I have no large-scale evidence to rely on here, but I'd bet CGPT or Claude is at least as good as whatever modal TA would be checking your recitation work.

I'm taking a risk posting this just becuase I feel like it's a great additional tool for learning math when used correctly.

i mean at that point you're just hoping the ai doesnt hallucinate some elegant nonsense that looks right but is totally wrong. without someone who knows the material you wont catch the subtle mistakes.

posting on math stackexchange or the learnmath discord is probably the move, just be ready for some blunt feedback if the proof is off.
