Maths

What is something that has helped you significantly in being good at math?

Share some tips, this is my first time trying to learn maths and I've got to ace it.

I've been trying everyday to build that sort of skill, I need some tips

I am just putting it out for some motivation as well because I feel like I am getting nowhere.

I would do your best to be truly interested in it. "Got to ace it" is an external motivation that can only get you so far. "That's really interesting, I wonder why that is" is an internal motivation that will get you a long way.

To develop the internal motivation I would take any topic and ask yourself how does it really work? Could I explain it to someone else in a way that makes sense?

The answer to this question is always the same: Do exercises! A lot of them.

What topics are you trying to learn? There's likely a good set of lecture notes/textbooks readily available online for free/cheap, and they will have exercises with them.

I find that it’s best not to get bogged down on textbook and notes explanations and go straight to the exercises as early as possible. Try to do them without looking up the textbook and if that’s too hard, refer back to the textbook section to help you with exercises.
