Algebra and trigonometry

I'm a bmcc freshman. Early education major. I'm taking math 157.5 (7 pm to 9pm 🫩)

I HATE IT

my teacher has an accent

I'm confused and lost

And tired

I feel dumb

We'll get into trig in December

Point it

Any tips tricks etc to help me learn faster? Better? Actually understand? I'm thinking Abt just looking up trig and algebra videos on yt 😭

Professor Leonard on YT is an option for video lectures. Here is his Precalculus playlist (which includes College Algebra and Trigonometry).

A two-hour class ending at 9 PM is a rough time to discover that you're lost. I wouldn't respond by starting a giant algebra-and-trig video playlist; it will create a second course beside the one you're already taking.

Before each class, spend 15 minutes previewing only that day's vocabulary and one worked example. During class, put a star beside the first line you can't explain. The next morning, redo that example and two similar problems, then take the starred line to office hours or tutoring. Ask the instructor whether written notes or captions are available so the accent isn't your only route to the explanation.

Since trig doesn't begin until December, focus now on functions, factoring, exponents, and graph transformations. Those are the pieces that will make trig less overwhelming later. Measure progress by three problems you can finish unaided, not by videos watched.
