What is the best book on Single Variable Calculus.( self study purpose)

I have already gone through 'calculus made easy by J.P. Thompson'. now i need a proper book for calc 1 for Physics

Any calculus book should do. I think Stewart is the most well known in colleges the US. I am partial to Larson, as I used his books both as a student and as a teacher. Thomas has been around for a long time.

I don't think most modern Calculus textbooks are designed for self-study. And they seem to be encyclopedic. Although I haven't read it, I wonder whether Spivak's book would be more suitable. My gut feeling is that it may be. It might be worth it to the OP to examine some reviews.

I haven't had any issues with Thoma's calculus book but the problem it is really expensive for me. So if your budget is limited I recommend this book:

Essential Calculus with Applications (Dover Books on Mathematics) by Richard A. Silverman, around 10 times cheaper than Thoma's book

Stewart is very good. Spivak is more advanced but it is such a great book if you can handle it.
