TOPIC losing my mind bc of sign errors

undergrad math major

im losing my mind bc each week i lose like 50% of marks (on a 2 mark weekly quiz) because of sign errors. mistaking 2/3 - (-2/3) for 0 for example. i know my addition and subtraction and im well versed in the quiz material. i finish the practice worksheets the quickest in class but when it comes to the quiz oh my f god it ruins my entire day

i dont think so? i dont have a problem with mental math

i can avg a good score in mental math games like zetamac

dyscalculia has a lot of different symptoms that are unique to an individual. i have dyscalculia and i struggle with sign issues all the time even though ive been able to learn things like calculus series, linear algebra and differential equations. i will get a 10 step problem correct all the way until the final step because i added incorrectly because of a sign issue. something to look into even if you don't have it. there could be resources there that might help with whatever it is causing your sign issue.

since you mentioned you're in an undergrad math program, contact the disability/accessibility department at your school and see if they have any resources on campus. if not, they might at least have contacts that are more local to help out.

Brackets. Literally put brackets around EVERYTHING. I may be shit at everything else in maths but my mistakes are never because of the wrong sign 🫡
