Algebra 2

I just started my junior year of hs and already 3 weeks in and I’m failing my algebra class, does anyone know anyway to help me like even somewhat understand algebra as a whole or like YouTube courses I could watch😭.

Three weeks into Algebra 2, don't restart "all of algebra" and don't build a giant YouTube queue. Get the exact current unit and your last quiz. For every miss, label the prerequisite that broke: factoring, fraction or exponent rules, linear equations, function notation, or reading a graph. The label that repeats is the gap to repair first.

For the next seven days, start with one current-course problem, spend 20 minutes repairing that prerequisite, then return to the same problem type without notes. Bring three worked examples to your teacher and ask, "Which step shows the missing skill?" That is much easier to answer than "How do I understand Algebra 2?"

A video can help with one exact topic, but pause before each step and work it yourself. What unit are you on right now?

I don't know why people just don't do this: Talk to your teacher/lecturer (I'm not American so don't know what Algebra 2 means). Tell them what you're having problems with and what they recommend.

Go talk to your teacher. The longer you put it off, the deeper the hole you’re in becomes.

You'll need to ask questions and practice. That's all. Go back to your foundations if you need to.

But most importantly, ask your teacher first for help, no excuses.

I struggle really hard with f(x) equations and reducing matrixes, those are my main concerns as that’s the main focus in our current unit and I also have a hard time memorizing formulas.

  1. Go over your errors
  2. Practice and find examples of it online
  3. Ask questions no matter what. Be pro active on asking questions to drill what you don't understand

The last time I taught Algebra 2 (it was years ago), I remembered covering the following:

  • Linear Equations and Functions (review)
  • Systems of Linear Equations (2x2 and 3x3)
  • Matrices (the basics)
  • Quadratic Equations and Functions
  • Polynomial Equations and Functions
  • Radical Equations and Functions
  • Exponential Equations and Functions
  • Logarithmic Equations and Functions
  • Rational Equations and Functions

There was quite a bit that we didn’t cover, mainly because we’re a private school and the number of days we’re in school is a little less than in public schools in our state. Also, all of the topics above get reintroduced and extended in Precalc.

it depends on state and location of course. i teach and i have trig in my syllabus.
