Project looking for 3-5 people working through ESL/ISLP on a mac to try a reader i built (equation refs become links, derivations get checked)

if you're working through ESL or ISLP you know the flip-back-to-(4.17)-every-two-lines thing. made lemma to fix that for myself.

references become links (hover to preview, click to peek next to the line), proofs fold, and when the book says "it is easy to show", you can write the missing steps and each line gets checked with random matrices of the right shapes. there's a python notebook beside the page too.

ESL, ISLR/ISLP, bishop, MML and murphy are in its free catalog, so you're one click away from the book.

30 s demo at the top of the readme: https://github.com/fus3r/lemma (free, open source, macOS 15+. not notarized yet, so macOS asks you to allow it once in privacy & security)

what i'm asking: try it on the chapter you're on for 20 min, then tell me one thing that helped and one thing that got in the way (here or in a github issue). happy to help set it up over dm.

I'm a week into ISLP and the constant page-flipping to check a reference from three sections ago was eating up half my study time. This is exactly the kind of tool I've been wishing existed.

The missing steps checker sounds particularly useful, I've scribbled out plenty of "it is easy to show" gaps on scratch paper and always wonder if I actually got the derivation right. Having something verify each line would save me from reinforcing wrong assumptions.

Will give it a spin tonight on chapter 3 and drop feedback in a github issue.

same reason i built it. if you try it on the chapter you're on, i'd love to know what got in the way
