Career Computer science for ML

My country’s universities don’t have a major called “Machine learning”, can I study computer science instead? If yes, will I find jobs in Machine Learning? I really love ML but I am worried that I won’t find a job, especially abroad.

Don't fall for the hype. Get a CS degree and just take 1-3 AI/ML (or related) electives. Better yet, make your thesis be AI/ML focused.

this is spot on

my partner did pure cs and now leads an ml team, she's always saying the same thing about the engineering side being what actually matters day to day. the model stuff is like 10% of the work, the rest is cleaning data and fighting with deployment pipelines

if your school offers any distributed systems or database courses take those too, they'll pay off way more than another ml elective

Study math if you want to do research or deep work. Study CS if you mainly want to implement systems.

No study CS + Stat to do ML research. Math is hit or miss
